Pioneer Avic-d1-----gripe------
I think the new Avic-d1 is cool, only problem is that it doesn't have a DVD player--which makes no sense if they are trying to compete with Eclipse!
I want the Eclipse, but I was going to wait to get that when I got my Z and get the Pioneer for the QX4. This is so I would have two different sound systems. Best of both! Now I am going twith Eclipse for both.
I just wanted to give my thoughts. BTW, it is in the Tweeter Catalog for
1599.00

It's a deal breaker for me as well. I had already put my order in ... but cancelled due to the lack of support for DVD-Data discs ... I want to be able to load 4.7G of mp3 files ... not just 700Mb
Web site has the D1 now--no dvd player. Pioneer surprises me on this one. I am thinking that they rushed this unit out to compete with Eclipse and Kenwood since these DD units are popular. Why they would not include the dvd player especially when they have it in the N1 and N2. Unless they were trying to focus on consumers who just wanted a NAV unit. I bet in 2 years Alpine will be out with theirs--they have one in Japan called the INE-w099 which is HDD based NAV.
