Which monitor? There is a TME-M760 (which I have), and that was then replaced by the newer TME-M770. Don't go with something like the 580. Go with as big a monitor as you can fit in there (6.5" to 7"); you'll appreciate every extra inch. (Oh man, I can already see the girlfriend jokes forming in people's minds...)

Look at this picture:

One part is the whole lid/cubby hole assembly. You can't get that one wrong. The other part in question is that gray, wide, sloped piece of plastic in front of the bottom of the screen. All it is is a cover/trim piece to hide the screws behind it.

A little searching on Google will turn up what you need. I did a quick search, and found these:

http://www.millionbuy.com/accainetaux.html
http://www.millionbuy.com/accmbusaux.html

If you have an Alpine headunit that uses AInet, then you'll need the first link. If you have an Alpine that uses M-Bus, you need the second link. Once you plug in that adapter, you'll magically have 3 source options available instead of 2 when you hit the source button: Tuner -> CD -> Auxillary.

Note that this adapter uses the AInet/MBus port on the back of your head unit. This port is also used by CD changers. If you want to use the adapter *and* a cd changer, then I believe you can get a splitter of some sort to allow you to use multiple devices.

Most brands of car headunits out there now days have some sort of proprietary method of talking to external components such as cd changers, XM radio modules, etc. In Alpine's case, they call their system "AInet." I believe Pioneer calls their's "IP-Bus." And so forth. Anyway, Alpine headunits only have one input on the back; it's an AInet input. It's not a regular audio input. Only AInet stuff will plug into that special plug. So, you get an AInet-to-RCA converter. This will give you standard RCA inputs into which you can plug any audio device you want. You have to do that. That's how you get an auxillary audio input into your Alpine. The only other option is to use an RF-converter which will allow you to use your audio device via the FM tuner in the headunit, but I personally don't like those. The audio quality isn't nearly as good as using an aux input. (FM has substantial audio quality limitations.) You can go this route, and it might be fine for you, but why do it when you can just get the darn AInet adapter.

What device(s) do you have that support the touch screen capabilities?

nothing! it just works with the screen for all the controls. eliminates needing a switch for power on/off and the need to modify the frame of the cubby to accommodate any control buttons on the face of the screen. the screen is not VGA, i don't plan on going that route any time soon.

screen fits like a champ. pics tommorrow of the completed install.

What wires did you use to hook up to the screen from the ps2? What inverter do you have and where did you put it?

the inverter is double-sided taped and zip-tied to a what i'll call for now a beam between the passenger side glove box and the stock sub location. pics would help out a lot in explaining the position of the inverter but i have none at this time. it is raining outside right now or i'd take a pic for you. i'll try to get you one tomorrow. the inverter i bought at circuit city. the wires/cable actually, came with the PS2. the cable reached from the head unit to the PS2 with no problems.

VitaminZ's PS2 location is the same as mine. Sorry about the large image size. That's all I've got hosted on my site:

My inverter is simply tucked away underneath that tray that the PS2 is on.
