Default Question about JL Sub

I have a JL 12in W6v2. I've been searchin and no one has a 12in sub in their car? There is a custom box on ebay but the mounting depth is only 8in, and the JL requires like 9.5. Can someone help me, is it possible to even have this sub in my car, or no?

If you have a coupe, yes. You'll need to create a sub-floor enclosure. MIAPLAYA has 2 JL 12W0, but their nowhere near the w6v2. Don't think it will fit under the strut. You can throw it in the JL HO enclosure and call it a day. It'll sound crazy but not look too clean.

Not sure the trunk space of a roadster. Bubble would be the man with the answer there.

I have 2 12s in my floor as well. To be flush with the stock floor you have 7.25" of backspace to mount the woofers.

Simply put ... the 12W6v2 ain't gonna fit cleanly

You could use my design and just extend the box into the spare tire well. Mine ends at the stock floor but it would like almost exactly like mine except the box would go down all the way... Of course the Sound Pressure might do bad things to the hatch with 2 12W6v2s that close to it. However Jim is running quite a powerful setup and his hatch is no worse then mine so far....

the problem comes down to aesthetics ... a 12" subwoofer is only going to look good while in the floor ... it is simply too tall to make a nice looking side mount for it.

Fiberglass is the only way to do the tire well, and yes, its $$$ ... it cost me over $100 in materials to do it myself .... that and shop labor would have been $500 easy

So an JL HO box would fit a w6v2 in the trunk of a coup?

Putting a 12 inch subwoofer in a Z is possible. Just keep in mind a custom box will run you $300-$600 for the right specs for you sub. I too am in the process of putting a JL 12W7 in my Z. Just comparing prices on a custom box at the moment.

Ive got a Vega 12 in mine with a stock box, fit nicely after I got rid of the spare and the floormat. Custom boxes look so much nicer though, my rear is a mess. Getting that rectified soon though, just hope it sounds the same. 12's need a buttload of airspace to reproduce right.

Only certain 12s need lots of airspace. There are many subwoofers that require less than 1.0ft^3 for a 12"er.
