i got the alpine mrd-m500 mono amp
which run 500wx1 @2 ohm RMS

i got 2 12" alpine type R 2+2ohm DVC
these type R are the newest model
Power Handling Capacity (Peak) : 1500W
Power Handling Capacity (RMS) : 500W

i know i can connect the 2 subs so that they run @ 2 ohm
but will my amp be really under power so that i won't get any bass out of it?
should i do a seal box or port box?
should i just get a 1000w amp instead?

i am running a pioneer avic-N1

Those subs will sound find with 250 watts rms to each. I would seal the box.

Porting a box for 2 drivers requires too much space in the Z.

 

I agree with that, but I dunno how those would sound in a ported box. I dont know anything about the airspace needs or specs for the boxes for the alpines, but I do know that the wrong box with the right sub can equal some crappy bass.
