tell me if im doing my box volume right/is it better to be at the min or max volume
ok i used to be realy good in geometry but i have not had it in a while so tell me if im forgetting somthing

8x18x10=1440in^3
(7x14x8)/2=392in^3
(5x8x18)/2=360 in^3
1440in^3+392in^3+360 in^3=2192in^3
devide by 1728 this gives me 2192in^3 / 1728=1.2685ft^3
fyi (1ft^3=1728=12x12x12)
1.2685ft^3
the target size for my box is .5~.8f^3
the displace ment of my sub is .115ft^3
so 1.2685-.115=1.154
this is .354ft^3 over the recmended size what would this do to my sound.
i could tak off the (7x14x8)/2=392in^3 back end of my box and bring my volume down to 1.042ft^3 then and in the sub displace ment and its .927ft^3 closer but no cigar.
my mock up box is made out of card board right now "da ghetto box" so i can still make changes to the final one. the final box will have thicker walls so i should take off about 3/4in on all the dementions so do you think i will be fine with the final producat at
7.25x17.25x9.25=1156.828in^3
(4.25x7.25x17.25)/2=531.516in^3
=1688.344in^3 / 1728=.977ft^3
.977ft^3 -.115ft^3=.862ft^3
im still .062ft^3 off from target
what effects will this have on my sound...is bigger always better?
should i shorten a side to drop the size down
one inch on the width of the box drops the volume to
.805ft^3 (sub displacement calculated) is this close enough or should i get inbetween .5 and .8
BASICLY SHOULD I GET CLOSER TO THE MINIMUM OR THE MAXIMUM VOLUME FOR OPTIMAL SOUND.
thank you for your time

I hate geometry that's why I was sooo glad when someone pointed me to the 12 volt web site. Try it you'll like it.

my box has funny demetions, but i know i got the volume right. now my quistion is about much volume should i adjust it. the optimum volume is .5~.8ft^3 should i get closer to .5 or stay at .8 and shuold i port the box. what is the differance
