radar detector harwire question
Hey, I have searched, but couldn't find the answer. I have an Escort 8500 X50, with the hardwire kit. Just want to know which wire you guys crimped onto with the adapter that comes with it. I looked under the dash, and saw a bunch of wires taped together.
Thanks.
Thanks.
why not just use the wires going into the rear view mirror? u sure u searched? this topic is covered a lot. i read over the threads for a week before i got my x50 and zr3 and installed them. i ended up just doing everything my own way though.
i have the base model, so I don't think I can wire it there. I searhced, but it seems that everyone is wiring directly to the fuse box. I don't really want to do it that way since I have the adapter.
i have a base model and i hardwire my X50 directly to the fuse box. i have the adapter too but i just bought the hardwire kit for $10 and kept the adapter for future use. I just forgot where...

I just pulled the back panel off and once its off the cig lighter comes out and you have access to the wires behind it. Just tap into the ground and the power of the cig adapter and run wires accordingly.

Hey dave079, I was actually going to post a thread about this, but I saw your post and figured you could answer my question.
I need access to the wires of the power outlet (the one in the back pannel between the seats...this is what you are referring to correct?). I was wondering if there is any way to pull that out without removing the back pannel. Do you have to pull the back pannel off for the power outlet/adapter to come out? Did you see any way to pull it out (to get access to the wires) without having to pull the back pannel out? Also, to pull the back pannel out, you have to loosen and pull the center console correct? Thanks....

That I know of there isnt anyway of doing this without pulling the back panel off. And yes you do have to loosen up the center console in order to do this too.
