Default Need a new sub, heres my choices

My Vega 124 has been going strong since 1998! but now its starting to show its wear and I think its a matter of time before it takes a crap on me. I finally got my box built and installed (will post some pics soon) and managed around 2.5 cubic feet ported. I am torn though, considering I have been out of the sub market since about 1998 I havent checked out any of the potentials until I started doing research about a week ago. I came up with a list. (albeit a long one) of potential candidates. I only have a mounting depth of 7 1/2 inches, maybe a little deeper depending on what I can out with the router to the bottom of the box. (but I would just as soon avoid that.) So without further adue:

Alpine SWR-1222D
Alumapro ALCHEMY RX12
Alumapro ALCHEMY H2012
Audiobahn AW1205Q
Boston Acoustics G51244
Cadence MW124
Cerwin Vega VMAX12D
Diamond Audio M612D2
Image Dynamics IDQ12
Image Dynamics IDMAX12 v3
JL Audio 12w6v2
Orion HR12.2
Rockford Fosgate T112D2
Volfenhag ZX-4812

I know its a huge list, but I think ive narrowed it down to either the rockford or the vega. (only because I loved the 124 so much, Ive never heard the new VMAX's in action.)

Also some of these guys I had trouble finding the mounting depths for them, so they may not work. If you know them and can help me scratch them off the list let me know.

So input please, I am looking for clarity and accuracy more so than volume, but I dont want a lower db than what I had with the 124.

thanks.

Rockford Fosgate T112D2 or JL Audio 12w6v2 would be my choice.

Thanks man, I think I will probably wind up with the rockford, I am inching closer and closer the more positive feedback I get about it.

The only thing that I absolutely hate about the ID stuff is that they are ugly as hell. Doesnt really matter, but youd think they would make their stuff a little nicer looking. I have heard of Phonenix's subs being badass, but Ive never heard one. Not a bad price either, nearly half that of the fosgate.

I am also weary of going away from cerwins. They used to be the most accurate subs on the market, but I have no idea what the new VMAX series sounds like, I just know that I loved the hell out of the vega series. Ive heard a few of the old strokers and contrary to what everyone said about them, put in the right enclosure (a friggin huge one) they were extremely accurate.

The phoneix is now on my list...so instead of getting shorter it is getting longer ARGH!

In all actuality though, I probably wont be disapointed with any of the ones on that list or the phoenix.

The PG subs are badass, I am about to pick up 2 10s.

Ive heard about the old cerwins. Ive heard lots of good things about the strokers. They have had some financial troubles in the past few years so the quality has suffered as a result. However, I have heard rumors of them putting out another stroker.

They have two new stroker series coming out, High end stroker pros, and redesigned original strokers.

I think the stroker pro pricetag starts around 1500 beans though Ive never seen either of them for sale yet.

ive got a re xxx 10" and i would put it up against ANYTHING out there...theres a guy selling one right now (nearly brand new) on caraudio.com named repo_24 in the classifieds section....if you bought it, you would NOT be disappointed with it, just dampen your car properly and make sure your seat belt is locked, and hang on tight. I really dont think there's anything out there "sub 1K dollars" that can hang with them. Bama350zMD

Damn it, second time this has come up. On monday I am going to call them about this. They never post the mounting deeps on those things.

I've heard a 15 and a 10 inch XXX.....pretty nice sounding even though they were in boxes intended for SPL.

The lines under the XXX are nice also.
