is the stock bose stuff worth anything?
I have a non-Bose radio and have been researching whether the Bose head unit is compatible with my car (i.e. whether the plugs will match).
I am fairly certain that the wire plugs are different, but I think that if I had a Bose unit to look at, I could play around with my stock wiring harness and make it work.
If you can't find a home for your Bose head unit, I would gladly pay $100 or so for your Bose head unit if I can get it to work.
please pm me if you are interested.
p.s. - the Bose sub is worthless for many reasons, but most importantly, the speaker is 1 ohm and not compatible with most amps, and therefore, would not be helpful for anyone looking to add bass.

At a minimum, using the Bose headunit with a Non-Bose system will require separate amps to run ALL the speakers in the car.
Thats the easy part. The tough part is the fact that the Bose system has about 10 additional wires that the Non-Bose system (and wiring harness) does not.
One more problem - a piece of plasitc must be placed in the slit at the top of the headunit or the CD changer mechanism will be damaged from being jarred during shipping.
I will post more info on that after I find where I got that info.
With that, I would still like to tinker around with a head unit if someone could safely ship one to me for a reasonable price given the uncertainty involved.

Like you guys have said, I don't think the Bose indash 6cd changer will just "plug and play", but I'm sure that it can be used in the car with some modification. I've already gone aftermarket and don't think I'll be returning the car to stock. I'm open to offers. Thinking about $150 shipped? Email if interested. lars.olufsen@autotrader.com. cheers.
I might be interested in a trade plus a small amount of cash for my 03 bose unit, for a newer bose unit that can have auxillary input. As long as it will be plug and play.
