Your leaning in the right direction! JL is the best IMO! I have all JL Audio VR 6.5" Speakers in the doors and rear, all powered by a JL Audio 300/4 amp. I am looking in to a custom box for my 2 JL Audio 12W6v2 Subwoofers!!! I cannot wait to have those in my Z!

This is by far the most common. I did this install a week or so ago.

2 subs under the strut there in the back(box can be had off ebay) and an amp in the glove compartment.

Jl subs are okay to good depends on the w*what*. JL amps are dirty I would stay away from those.

My suggestions.

Phoenix Gold amps
Eclipse head unit
Jl subs(w6 not w3 or w7) or Eclipse alumin. cone or Re audio XXX
Alpine Type X components(though Ive heard of mounting difficulties)
or Boston Acoustics pro components

Do not run any rear fill, you do not need it in a 2 seater

Here is a pic of my old system and my new one.

Initially I was running a stealth box design with 1 10"JL106v2 powered by a JL 500/1 5 channel amp that also powered the Infiniti 6.1 perfects in the doors.
It was a MDF wood box with a top covered in a black carbon fiber vinal. You could still put the factory mat on top to hide it.

My new system is 2 12" MTX 7500 subs powered by an MTX801D and Focal K2P compents in the doors powered by an MTX1004.
This is a fiberglass design made more for show.

facing them back is a better idea...allows for the sound waves to form...rather than hitting your ears with half waves and quarter waves
