I had (2) 12's in my tire well, fiberglass is about the only way.

Big-Al (on this forum) has a 15" sub mounted there. He also owns/run's a local audio store here (AudiMobile) and did all of my work. Send him a PM for pic's. His setup is awesome! I went with a single 10" under the strut bar & its plenty of bass for me.

Default 12" MB Quart in spare tire well

12" in the tire location works well if you fiberglass. Actually, diameter isn't the problem, depth is. With about 7/16" thick f/g and 3/4" MDF top you will have only about 6" of depth for your driver. I ended up using an additional 3/4" MDF ring to act as a riser. Z carpet will cover the ring and a nice grill (like Audiobahn) makes a nice finishing touch. https://my350z.com/forum/newreply.ph...e=1&p=1491027#

I used 3/4" mdf. Needed a spacer to get 1" space between the driver and mdf. Best part, no fiberglass.

I have 1 12W3 and 3 Phoenix Gold Amps all mounted in the spare tire well. The sub box is fiberglass on the bottom, and the rest is MDF. I'm in Vermont right now, but when I get home I can post pics of the setup.

For those that used MDF on the bottom, what did you do about the little "hump" where the spare tire is supposed to sit around?

I cut it out. There is never going to be a tire in there anymore anyways.

Benefit of using FG on the bottom is you can mold around the hump and use the hump as a stabilizer to hold the box in place.

The paint picture is kind of crude but it's basically how my old setup was made.
