i had an alpine iva-d310 installed today using an American International installation kit. the guys at the shop said they could not get the head unit flush for some reason. the thing looks so $hitty, it sticks out like 2 inches.
does anyone know if this is normal?


on a side note the AI installation kit is almost perfect,fit and finish. would defenetily recommend it.

 

2 inches? Not normal at all...no stereo should stick out like that.

 

What you can do is remove the kit, trim piece and console--this is real easy . then remount the Alpine unit further back--take the double din brackes that hold the unit and move it forward, rescrew the screws in the location points. (there are screw holes on the side of the head unit. you should then be able to have it flush.

 

I got the IVA-D300 and ordered my kit from Crutchfield. It fits flush without the Alpine trim plate and instead I am using the one supplied with the kit. Here are pics:

 

I'm just curious if the 310 background display be changed or if there is a screen Equalizer display of some sort instead of that dumb *** car they put on the screen or that big *** CD they put on there. I mean what kind of display is that?! I hope thats not all the 310 offers us. If anyone knows for sure please brighten my day.

 

I played with the IVA-310, seems cool. I happen to like the cd and "car" but I prefer more graphics alpine used to offer. Now it is basically word with a cd or car which isn't cool. That is one reason I like Eclipse.
