I was thinking of the same thing just different components. My friend showed me the Soundstream DVD Touchscreen combo. I used that instead.

the farenheit monitor fits perfect in the nav cubby. As far as touchscreen/DVD units go, they are great if you can afford them, but they are up there in price. They range from... id say 700ish for the cheapest to 1500 for the better ones. My AVH-P7500 cost me 1500 when I got it but I love it to death. As for Soundstream though, personally I stay away because they have a lot of warranty complications cause of buyouts and bankruptcies and whatnot in the past. The last I heard, my wholesale supplier told me that any Soundstream products I bought from him came with NO warranty because soundstream does not offer a warranty with any of their products, and that made me stay away and go with pioneer instead.

Buy a mac mini and touchscreen. You have mp3, cd, dvd, bluetooth, navigation, airport wireless. All for less than the options that have been listed above.

I went with a Pioneer touch screen in-dash flip screen. I can't remember the model # off the top of my head, but it works really well. Very convenient. You have to remove your factory HU and install a double DIN housing. The "brain" fits nicely under the driver side seat. It does take a little finess to get all the wires packed in behind the HU though.

That sounds like the way to go. Mini pc in car. My setup was 1400 for the Soundstream 7" screen combo.
