Default Urgent Help Needed regarding Kenwood DDX-7015. Owners , please read real quick.

I just bought this unit, and installed it myself.

I disconnected the battery and such before install, and after install, reconnected battery, and it asked for password.

I called orginally owner of unit, and his password didn't work. So I figured with the battery reset, the password reset to default.

I've tried every possible "default" password I can think of, such as, 1234, 1111, 0000, 0987, ect.

Does anyone know how to figure out the password to the unit?

I can calll Kenwood tomorrow, but I'm kinda eager to see how the unit works today, and their closed today.

I was thinking it could be last 4 digits of serial number to prevent theft and such?

Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance.

the manual says that after battery disconnect or pressing reset ull have to enter the code that was inputted. so the prvious owner's pass should work. i don't think there's a security code set by default

The security code by default is KCAR. This is a sequence that you have to follow before it will let you input it.

I tried to use the old code the orginal owner had, and he was positive it was that code, but it wouldn't work.

The KCAR, they only offer digits, how do you do KCAR? the digits are 0-9, and 4 digits used.

Also, whats the sequence you need to imput?

Finally, what page in manual does it discuss codes? I didn't find it anywhere in manual.

if you bought the unit from uf350, i can vouch for the fact that it is not stolen.

have you tried calling up kenwood and seeing if they can help you at all?

I did this. It took about ah hour to go through the first 1000. Then about 30 mins with some interruptions I made it to 1437. That was my number. Its my understanding that once the code is set you cannot change it ever. So I wrote mine on the unit. How ever it does seem like you can turn that feature on and off. So... Happy code cracking to those who are willing to go about it this way. Also the touch screen seemed to respond better when touchedbwithcthe backside of a pen. Plastic of course.

Iirc the remote has 3 letters per digit (like a phone), but you have to use the remote. I'm a Kenwood dealer and it has been a loooooong time since I've seen anyone reference the kcar password reset on a Kenwood... Not sure they even still use it....
