i've looked into this and i couldnt find any way to do it for that cheap, except maybe one of those ipod to tape cassette thingy. i went to super autobacs in stanton and talked to joe the manager of av and he said he could install something for about $200 where its hard wired into ur stereo but u still control thru ur ipod.

There are a few things out there which connect to the unit itself.

The one I saw at best buy the other day was $199.99, didn't read too mcuh on it, but looked good.

hey one of my brothers is an electrical engineer and he took a tape adapter and wired it to the back of his head unit, he drives like a 97 accord but if you all think it would be worth it let me know and i will get him to either show me or write up how he did it, but for $15 and a few careful details i think it'd be better than dropping another 200 on it... just let me know

if you have bose stereo, try connecting it to the amp in the boot.. its got 5 inputs for four speakers and a sub !

and think of a way to use both factory and ipod using the same amp at a time.. maybe you will need some sort of switch that can switch between the two inputs..

ok i talked to him and found out what he did

there are no inputs in the factory head unit in his accord (or my friends '88 300ZX) but what he used was for a rear cd changer, that was even on the 300zx, but since we have an in dash i don't know if it will have one, but if someone knows or could find out that'd be good, cause then i can ask him for more details... if there is a place for this then there is some kind of filter we have to get, its like $40 or something... so as soon as someone lets me know if there is a space for a trunk cd changer we can get movin

The answer to all of your problems. I have sold mine so you can't buy it from me. But use this information and THE SEARCH more often.

ding ding ding! good job mrpratt, i was about to say something rude back to maxipad's post, but u beat me to it with a nice reply....

btw..i did however buy the monster cable brand fm modulator. i found it on pricegrabber.com for $47, whereas the apply store sells it for $75+?. and i have to tell u, this thing works greater than i expected. the signal is clear, obviously not as clear as digital cd quality, but it is flawless so far, and it charges ur ipod too! this was the answer to my own question, so if u guys are still interested, defenitly get the monster fm modulator.

You guys are some cheap ***'s. Why spend 50 on an FM modulator that no matter how good it is will suck in SQ, when you could spend another 50 and have a direct line input. You drive a pretty nice car quit being cheap.

holy hell someones having a bad day

i don't know where you shop but the only places around here that do a direct line input are $200 - not worth it

plus you have an aftermarket head unit, we are talking about the bose head unit, look at the title

i don't understand why you are bein such a dick about all this, maybe because we don't have the luxury of having our parents buy us our car, we actually have to pay hundreds a month just to have it, so saving a few dollars here and there isn't bad (for me anyway)

mrpratt..preach on brotha! But seriously though, maxipad I’m not sure but, does your name have any correlation with the things girls use??? No joke, just wondering...
But on a serious note, I don't know what your situation is with your car and are willing to spend top dollar on anything and everything. But I personally pay well close to 1/2 a grand to keep the keys in my hand, and yes this car is a very nice car.
when u say, quote "Why spend 50 on an FM modulator that no matter how good it is will suck in SQ, when you could spend another 50 and have a direct line input." unquote

That is the same reason why I got the base model, sure for another 2-3 gs I could’ve gotten the performance or enthusiast model. But I set myself a limit on how much I’m willing to spend for certain things. Beside like I said about this fm modulator, its by far still flawless, and it charges your ipod as well, and I’m sure the $100 inline connection can not do that. And I have 2 cars, so I can take the fm modulator out and swap between the two.

So next time when u decide to post something ignorant like that, think twice because it really made you look like someone that’s going to spend the rest of their lives bagging my groceries or mixing concrete.
