The factory Navigation is a very good system but it's more than that. You can check your fuel economy, has a voice system to alert you to different things like upcoming turns or (not sure of this but someone said so) engine codes or warning lights. It is a nice clean install and covered by warranty. I have also heard that it is a pain to install if the car isn't prewired for it.

+1 to the AVIC-N2. I had it in my civic and absolutely loved it. I just picked up my Z on saturday and will be putting the N2 in it later tonight. There are some pics on here somewhere of it installed. But let me know if you want more.

If I were you, I'd consider doing the Mac Mini like someone on the forum just did. You would get so much more than just a nav system. It would probably cost a little more than the Avic-N2. I think the Mac Mini is about $600, the touch screen ~$300, and a nice head unit would be ~$500. I already have a fold out monitor, dvd player, cd changer, ps2, and am considering doing this Mac Mini in my car as well. Anyway, it's an option. Here's the link:

by far the best and the sleekest looking, pioneer avic-D1. The d does not come out like the others.

Here's the choices I've been looking at:

My dealer quoted me $3500 to install the $2000 factory stock navigation system .... guess he wasn't interested.

I'd like to see some pictures of your setups installed. Anyone? I am considering a NAV/DVD for my new Z, but I'm not sure if I want to replace the existing factory 6-disk CD bose unit or put it behind the "NAV" door. Any suggestions.

Thank you.

Be careful at that site as it is overrun by children that don't even own cars and take great joy in attacking new people.

This is really unfortunate as the site has some great info if you can just stand to wade through all the garbage posts.

If you just read the site you'll be fine, just expect to be attacked if you ask a question.

P.S. I've actually built a prototype Carputer and will be using MS Streets & Trips but I don't think that is an optimal solution it's just what I already have.

Eclipse avn5435 for the looks, the N-2 for the features. I like the N-2 I just don't like the way it looks in the 350z with single din in double din slot.

They are buying online and not supporting local retailers who will make and break this business...
