$600 is cutting it really tight.

If that's the budget you'll end up spending about $300 of it for a just decent headend, $200 for an amp, and $100 for one sub-woofer of fair quality and be stuck with the stock speakers which make up most of your music.

I'd rather see you just replace the speakers if that's your whole budget. For $300 you can get a good set of front speakers, for $100 a fair set of rears, and then buy a $200 good subwoofer for the stock location.

Later I would have you buy a $120 subwoofer box and a second subwoofer driver to move to that box for another $200.

Last I would replace the electronics with a good $400 head end and matching amp for $350.

If that $600 includes installation labor you're going to end up with something worse off that the stock unit (if that's even possible). Figure at least $50 an hour - a headend and five/seven speaker swap, and amplifier installation can take five hours or more depending on the size of the amp and its power requirements. A big system may take eight hours or more.

Figure out how many 350Z's you're going to own, how long you're going to own it/them, how important your music/entertainment is to you, and if its worth doing right the first time. Buying a low range amplifier only to replace it a few months later makes the thing really expensive compaired to getting it right the first time.

I went through the exercise above and figured I'd own one 350Z, keep it for years and years, that I enjoy listening to good music, and I always try to do things right the first time as an engineer. Sitting down I drew up a system that was close to $4000 and I didn't want to spend all that at once so I did it like one eats and elephant - one bite at a time.

First I added 50 sq.ft. of fatmat sound deadening, and changed out the rear speakers - the two 6.5's and the subwoofer in the stock location. Next an empty subwoofer cabinet, followed by a new front navigation pocket and a Farenhiet screen for it. Then came the headend, CD player, and front speakers. I'll have to do a sound treatment to the doors to deaden the road noise there too. I still haven't bought the new subwoofers or amplifers but I'm getting to the right spot slowly.

If your just getting an amp and front components, I HIGHLY reccomend Elemental designs nine.2 and eDi 6500's. The eDi's are custom CDT HD's and sound AMAZING in the Z. The nine.2 pushes them Great with tons of head room. It's only 480 when ordered together, and you can throw in 60 sq/ft of their Sound deadening and still be well under your $600 mark, It's just as good as dynamat. http://www.edesignaudio.com/packages

im def planning on getting all of that done. i was saying 600 just for the front components and the amop t drive them. i ordered a RE XXX 10 inch sub already and a PG amp to drive that. As far as the HU im getting a poineer off of my friend (pretty basic but im planning on doing a pc install eventually)

thanks for the writeup tho

hmm, $600 only? just add a mono amp with 10" subwoofer. Keep the stock components. That should be enough to change the sound for now..

if you still have some money left, get front components...

Phoenix Gold 100 x 2 is a nice amp you can get from Ebay for the mid 300's. I can't recommend any components set under $300

Hmm.. looking at Ebay pricing seems to be a lot cheaper than last year. That said I would recommend the PG Xenon 100.2 and PG Elite 6.5 set..total should be under $600. I'm happy with that setup.

haha thanks man. let me clarify i have already selected the rest of the components i am going to install in my car. What i am trying to determine is what front component speakers and amp i can buy for about 600 bucks. I already have my head unit and subwoofer on order along with the amp to drive it. i just need to front components to finish it up and then maybe some rear speakers but ill see how it sounds without them for now.

thanks

More better - components to me means headend, processors, crossovers, amplifiers, CD/DVD players.

The single biggest influence on what your system will sound like quality wise is the front speakers. Despite the fact that most of the noise comes from the subwoofer/woofer most of the music comes from the frequencies in the ten other octaves of music from 200-18,000 Hz. Every speaker will have a different sound - and even the same model of speakers will sound vastly different in different model car doors.

I enjoy the sound of Infinity Perfect 6.1's but came close to buying the similar MB Quarts. I had a listen to those two side-by-side using my music and picked the Infinities - YMMV and your taste in speakers/sound/music will probably vary.

Amps is amps - watts is watts - make sure you compare wattage accurately.

I too have the Infinity Perfect 6.1's in front and rear and they sound very nice. And the price is good.

Find your local flea market, best deals around.

Last year I got a 10w7 and a 500/1 for $600, and I just got some XR-650Csi and a 300/2 for $545.

just check ebay, the prices are amazing now days. Three years ago, I bought some daimond hex series components for $600. Now you can get them for $250 on ebay. There are a lot of speakers selling for less than $300 on ebay. Amps too.

XR-650Csi and JL 300/2 Yes you can get these under $600... PM Me

Add my front speakers Pods to the set for $199.95 (with purchase of speakers at th esame time otherwise $249). You have an awesom sounding front stage.

Here is a picture of the pods with a Kenwood Speakers. Wrapped in Vinly ($40) more.
