Default How to connect speaker wire to speaker?

What is the proper way to make the connection? Twisting the two ends together and then electrical tape? Soldering them together? Which option should be used for sonic clarity. I would think the solder would cause the signal to deteriorate some.

Speaker wire to the speaker or are you talking about two pieces of speaker wire to each other? All of the speakers I've had have had screwdown or hex fasteners that attached pretty easily to the wire without the need for solder or tape. I've read a few owners manuals that said do not solder wire to the post..It would also be a pain to remove it.

If you're talking about wire to wire, I have always made one wire shorter than the other on the first wire set and the opposite wire longer on the second.. Then used the twist method with electrical tape on each wire. Then fold the ends in opposite directions and tape around both wires. Someone on the board suggested soldering the two wires, but I haven't tried myself.

Whops, correction to my above post. I think you may be referring to 6.5" coax speakers that come with their own wires connected by a large and small clips. I had a set like this Rockford Fosgate's that came with 22 gauge wire (very thin). Personally I would just use the twist method for these or chuck the wires that came with the speakers and install the same clips on your wires.
