Default 2 11" subs or 1 15", opinions please

I'm finally getting around to putting a sub into my Z but I have to make a decision about where to install the box and what size sub.

I'm not looking for some super high spl, make your ear drums bleed kind of sound. I want the bass to be smooth, have good bass extenssion and blend smoothly into my mid bass. I will run 6.5" midbass and 4" mid randge and tweets up front.

What is you opinion? should I run 2 11" subs ( focal 27vx, older version of 27kx) probably under the strut bar. I already own these from my old system... or should I sell them and get 1 15" and make a box using the spare tire location.

I listen to everything from electronic, punk, hip hop to jazz and classical.

I'm looking for that nice humm you hear on some low octave vocals and a nice kick when listening to things as bela fleck.

I would love to hear your opinions and thoughts.

I would say the 15".

It's going to reach down several hertz lower but it's not going to be as efficient (loud) as a pair of 10" speakers. In home stereo systems the 10" is really a mid-bass.

I vote two twelves in the spare tire area! That's what I'm planning anyways!

I've had 8's, 10's, 12', and 15's and I don't think anything sounds better than 2 10's. If you just want loud, the bigger the better. But if you are looking for a good sounding thump I would go with the 2 10's. This is just my opinion, of course.

do you think the 15" will be as tight as the 2 11"s or or do you think the 6.5's will provide enough midbass?
