Question about RCA cables... I think mine went bad
I don't entirely understand what is going on with my system. Everything is hooked up and I determined that my Stinger 4channel RCA to my 300/4 is bad. It is the same one I used before I rearranged my setup, so how could it possibly go bad? How does a sealed wire go bad? Any thoughts, I really don't want to buy new RCAs.
Short of running around the inside of your car with a running chain saw or a small interior fire there is no way that four (or even two) RCA cables are going to go bad. You're got some other issue - like bad power - ground - or turn-on signal (my bet).
or when you were yanking around all those rca's out of one car and yanking them around putting into another car, the end connectors have come a little loose. I don't know how to resucure them, I just got new one's.
But follow paul's advice as well, it may not be your RCA's at all. I don't know how you determined it was your RCA's.

RCA's can mask other problems and seemingly BE the problem. I had a grounding issue at my amp before. Using one set of expensive shielded directional monster cables, a "ground loop" alternator whine could be heard loudly. Another set of cheap non-shielded cables did not produce the whine. I thought my expensive cables were bad; But it wasn't the cables. After fixing the ground problem, both cable sets worked like a charm.
I'm 90+% positive it is the stinger RCAs. When I replace the stinger RCAs with my JL RCAs, it works... the stinger cables aren't producing any signal no matter which channels I plug in, but the JL cables work perfectly on all channels... hmm. I'd like to sell the stinger cables, but I don't want to sell faulty cables. I checked the end connectors and they are still firm. Any ideas? If they are trash I'll just toss em, I ordered brand new monster cables anyway.
If you aren't getting any signal throught them you are probably right. My scenario was alternator noise that was picvked up and amplified by the shielded set. Phoenix Gold support was the one that alerted me to that characteristic of coax cables.
If you are getting Monsters top of the line watch out. they are tight as crap. I tried pulling them off and pulled the RCA end cap off my EQ.
