Not true!

Why not go with JL either 500/1 or 1000/1!

1000/1 is a bit much for a 10w7 - the 500/1 is a great match (it's what i'm using).

500/1 is a great match, but basically anything with 500 watts RMS. If you look at the 10w7 power rating chart, you will see that 500 is what is recommended.

you can't get a 300/2 for $300 either, unless you buy used - in which case you might as well look for a used 500/1.

If you go outside of a jl amp, make sure it is 1.5ohm stable.

why would you have to make sure the amp is 1.5 ohms stable? the 10w7 if a single coil 3 ohm woofer.. which means a mono amp would be running at 3 ohms mono. When looking at this config you need to look at both the 2 ohm rating and the 4o hm rating of the amp and find the middle. That is what the amp is going to do at 3 ohms.

So if he was running a mono amp at 3 ohms wouldit be making less power? then at 2ohms?

correct depending ont he damping factor. Most amps double power when you half the impedence. Jl amps on the other hand do the same power at every impedence with there favorite load being 4 ohm mono.
