Default How to wire power to Nav+Monitor for Testing

I recently purchased an AVIC9DVD and Pioneer touchscreen and i want to make sure that everything works before i take it to the shop to install.
I want to get power to the nav and monitor. If i twist the ACC and constant power wire together and hook it to the red side of my car battery, it doesnt work. I guess i dont need the other wires (speed sensor and ground wire and parking brake) just to see if to works right ??? For you experts, how do i do this ???
Thanks

To get the unit to work, you will also have to connect the ground wire and the parking brake wire to the negative post of the battery for the unit to power up.
