Back from Japan and installed my new head unit. Man, this thing is NICE!!! It does EQ and Speaker timing correction automatically in 4 minutes by sending white noise though all the speakers, as well as clicks to judge speaker distance. You get this little microphone that you put where your ears normally would be - the head unit does all the rest.

MP3 performance in spectacular. It has some sort of digital correcting that gets rid of audible compression artifacts. And MP3 next track and next folder is instantaneous - just like a store bought CD. Format authentication on initial CD insertion takes 2 seconds max.

Needless to say, I'm a happy camper.

Nice job.. That unit is nice.. I like those features on the Premier line and wasn't aware the double-DIN did the same.

Sorry, but the Kenwood is ugly - undeserving of a Z, and those Alpine's are used - $659 shipped for an old head unit that (inspite of the images) doesn't play DVDs without an additional player? The other cheapo Alpine unit is a very old model.

My Pioneer is Brand New and hand carried back from Tokyo - I also brought home a brand new Alpine MDA-W920JW. IMO way nicer than those used units - and both of mine support IPod, unlike those links. Look for it on EBay soon.

 

wasn't implying to buy them used. You already have one after all. Just interesting to see what is being designed and should be available in the future here.
