False laser warnings
I recently installed the whistler 3000 remote detector. The laser head is mounted on the rearview mirror and has three forward and one rear looking laser sensors. My previous only gave me a laser hit once and it was a state trooper someplace in Ohio (on I80). However, now whenever I am around Newark Airport (NJ not Ohio)I keep getting laser notifications. My initial thought was with all the construction they were using laser surveying equipment but I was still getting the alerts at night and in the same locations and also in heavy rain? The only other thing I can think of is that the contractors working on the roads or the airport leave a laser transmitter on all the time so it is a set and left on all the time.
Has anyone had similar experiences?

LED bulbs that are used in certain tail lights, and traffic lights can tend to emit a laser signal which can trick out some radar detectors. I always know when an Envoy or Trailblazer is hitting it's breaks in front of me cause my V1 flips out.

pcsgrp35se is exactly right. The LED "third" brake lights on certain cars will set off your laser detector. The ones on big SUV's are the main culprits since they sit higher up relative to your rear view mirror. I think the Escalade also does this to my Valentine One.
The other thing that I have found that sets off the laser detector on my older model V-1 (hasn't happened yet with my new model) is splashed up mist from a car in front of me when it is really sunny out. This doesn't happen very often. It has to have just rained a lot and then the sun comes out brightly. I think the mist acts as a kind of a prism to the sunlight and if the conditions and angle are just right, it sets off my laser.

mine always did it AFTER some small tall plaza in Florida. And only on one one side of it. When I was going other direction everything was fine.
And manual says that its expeted behaviour near tall plazas

tall plaza? Do you mean a toll plaza (booth)? If so, I wonder if it has to do with the fact that some of them use a laser scanner to scan the toll tickets? That would expain why it would only go off in one direction since in one direction you just get the ticket and in the other direction you pay for the toll.

I haven't had the issue around here with toll plaza problems except the typical ez-pass problems of the past year. I wasn't aware of the issue with the spray from cars etc. It is disturbing when that laser warning goes off and you try to knock off some speed quickly. The funny thing is that you can tell who else has a detector in their car because everyone does the same thing.

Incidently, after getting shot by laser twice on the same stretch of road (And pulled over) I'm looking to put together a group buy on a laser diffuser. See my post in this forum for details.

What the diffuser does is absorbs the laser and returns a signal with inconsistant values causing the laser gun to return an error report which will basically tell the cop, he was shaking the gun and couldn't get a reading. the diffuser does this for 5 seconds, allowing you time to SAFELY slow down, and then shuts off and allows the cop to clock you so as to not arouse suspicion of your jammer.
