Default Stock CD player skip?

Was wondering if anyone else with the Touring 03 have problems with their 6-disk player skipping/pausing in the mornings or if the weather is cold? When I get in the car in the afternoon it plays fine, usually just in the morning it happens. I thought it may be the CDs I burned but it happens with regular CDs also. Any thoughts, besides BOSE sucks??

yup, mine does it. Could be condensation/moisture in the car. Don't know. But the stock head unit is going to go soon to be replaced by an Eclipse DVD player

yeah it only does it when its cold, but its not just the Bose, the cd player in my old truck used to do that... i think its a common thing when you leave a cd in there overnight in the cold

The cd doesn't skip in my 2000 jetta unless it's like -30 out. So I just think the BOSE system just isn't up to par.

I have the same problem, nothing is wrong with it. I had a Bmw 3 before the Z and it was doing the same thing. Also, i left my Playstation 2 in my car one day last winter, and when i tried to use it, it would skip and not play cds until it warmed up. Just be patient i guess

I am awaiting my dealership here in Albuquerque to receive my 4th replacement 6 CD player for my 2003 "Tour". The first two had "Check CD" problems and would not play or eject. The third finally developed the "skip" problem. Cleaning the CD's and HU did not resolve the problem. Fortunately, ALL my problems happened while the HU was within the one year warranty of replacement.

Wish I could find a replacement 6CD HU that would work with the Bose system and look stock. No complaints about the Bose system other than the Clarion HU that Bose uses sucks!

Tired of waiting. Knowing that the 4th, like the previous three will probably go bad, so I ordered ECLIPSE's AVX2494 w/6.5" Wide TFT Touch Panel VGA Display CD/DVD/MS Multi-Source Receiver with 20GB HDD for Music Juke.

It's not normal and from reading this post I can tell it's very common.

My Bose head unit skips like crazy during anytime of the day, at any temperature. It's just random on when it will skip and when it won't.

I'm getting rid of it, and am about to get a Pioneer DEH-80MP

Piece of crap Bose.

Default cd player skip

I was wondering if it was just me. Wierd thing that the player skips ONLY when I first start the car and it takes 25 minutes before it stopped skipping. I live in California -- isn't that cold here!!
Stupid dealership said they can't find anything wrong with it. How do you get the dealership to replace it under the warranty when they can't make it happen ?

BTW I thought there were problems with replacing the stereo in this car? Any success stories???

I assume you are still within your warranty? My dealer replaced three of my units and I am currently awaiting the fourth replacement. However, apparently there is/was a shortage. Mine has been on backorder since mid October. Decided to replace with Eclipse AVX2494. Dealer stll plans on repairing unit when backordered unit arrives. So, will repair and leave it on the bench for someones future needs.

I did not have "problems with replacing the stereo". I guess then it is a "success" story! I replaced the Double Din HU only with the Eclipse AXV2494. In addition, used the Dbl Din Dash unit from Crutchfield, plus Bose harness and 4ch Adjustable Line Output Converter from Peripheral Electronics.

Haha...went through 9 of them! Anyone top that? After 3 years, I finally ripped it out and just did an entire audio install as I was sick of it, Hopefully I won't have anymore problems.

Mine hasn't been skipping since they replaced it, and it has been colder outside since I first noticed the problem. I've got my fingers crossed anyway.

Default Mine Skips Too

2003 Touring here, and I'm really glad to hear that mine's not the only CD player that has these skipping issues. If the weather's warm, it won't skip for anything, but if it's a little bit cool, it basically won't play the early tracks on a CD at all, and still skips a bit on later tracks, until the car warms up. This happens whether the CD was left in the player overnight, or if it was brought out of the house and put into the cold CD player.

I'm really quite disappointed and a bit pissed off at the overall audio quality of this "premium" sound system. I've got the CD skipping problem, the random volume adjustments problem, an overall lack of bass, no steering wheel controls, and no aux input for my iPod. The stock Infinity system in my previous car (1995 3000GT SL) kicked the crap out of the system in the Z. Very frustrating, but I never much like the look of aftermarket mods, so I guess I'm stuck with this crappy stereo...

Like I said in previous posts, went through 4CD units in my 2003 "Tour". Glad I finally made the decision to go with the Eclipse AVX2494. My Bose no longer "Blows"!

i was having the same problem w/my 03 bose unit as well. i'm not sure if this will help you guys but it worth a try. i went and bought one of those cd cleaning discs w/the little brush that is glued to the face of the disc and ran it through the player. at first the cleaning disc was even skipping but after about 5 tries the player started working. i have not had a problem since.

Buy a Good Brand HU and call it a day. I bought a Pioneer DEH-P80MP. Love it.

Buy a $199 or even $99 Pioneer HU and you'll be way more satisfied.
