Default 1 quick question about speaker system

okay.. i have a 2003 350z enthusiast, i guess you can call it base model.
so it doesnt have a 10" sub behind the driver seat because its not on the top of the line..

um if i get the 10" cover and replace with my oem one behind the driver side,
is it worth it, if i want to install 10" sub. an after market
or should i buy a box and install it under my strut in the trunk

which will be more beneficial?? please help!!!

IMO you should upgrade it according to OEM specs. In other words, design your system to fit as it was designed, e.g., use the space behind your driver seat. The trunk is SMALL enough as it is, so keep it clear as much as possible.

I guess it depends on your needs.

If sound quality (in this case, BASS) matters to you, stock sub location would require some modding to sound decent. Someone here made a comparison between stock Bose sub and a typical aftermarket 10" sub, and aftermarket one is much larger. You would need to install a custom box to fit in their and it looked like hassle.

My Z is a daily driver, and I do grocery shoppings and many things with my car but I installed a JL stealthbox which takes about 2/5 of my trunk.

Trunk is small. Yes. But amount of bass in my music was more important to me than the capability to carry a golf bag.

How about you?

I just had a Treo with Infinity Kappa Perfects installed in my doors and behind the seats. I had to have them custom fiberglass the enclosure for the sub and had them install two amps and xm. The total cost for install including the sub was $850 after tax. I already owned my hu and amps the sub I was planning on using was too big so i opted for the lighter Treo but sounds great.

I had them install my two amps in the false bottom under the glove box.. plenty of room there but you do shell out some cash having them make a fiberglass box where the old bose pos was. Everything but my hu looks stock but sounds 500% better.

You know where the DVD NAV goes behind the driver seat? You could put your amp there, or else a CD Changer.

you will probably want to get a free air sub, you can buy the sub cover for about 25$, i have a 10" sub in a small box infront of the rear strut bar, that space is kinda hard to use and get to anyway
