Default Just got my Phoenix Gold 400.1 Mono Amp

I just got my phoenix gold 400.1 mono channel amp in the mail! Sorry about the pics, I took them with my phone. The paper states that the amp is rated at 425.65 watts RMS. A great thing about this amp is that no matter what ohm setting, the amp still pushes the same RMS. Haven't really been able to listen to the sound difference because its nightime and all the neighbors will b@tch if I turn up the bass. I'll post install pics tomorrow.

Bada$$...I ordered the 400.1 and 100.2 this week, and they should be arriving on Monday. Did you buy them from Sounddomain?

make sure you get the warranty stuff figured out. my 400x1 only lasted about 4months, and since i bought it online no warranty for me. so annoying.

chimmike: Yeah, its the xenon. I'm glad to hear that it holds up

*****: So you can't send in the warranty if you purchased it online? I hope its not like eclipse where you need to purchase from an "authorized dealer" to reap the benefits of a basic warranty that even crappy amp companies will provide!

moog: I bought mine on eBay from greatdeals4uonline. I got it for $134.99 + shipping. You won't be disappointed in the quality of the amp. Both looks and sounds great. The rubber that covers all the inputs makes the amp install much cleaner than other amps.

Here's some install pics that I took with my crappy phone camera. The install is just temporary until I can find a way to sink the amp down into the spare tire well while keeping the spare tire. I also plan on putting a layer of plexiglass on the top so that you'll be able to see the amp. Again, sorry about the pics, I really need to invest in a digi cam.

I bought mine off Sounddomain.com who is an authorized retailer. They pricematched it to Ikesound.com with a 105% difference. Got both a 100.2 and 400.1 Xenon amp for $306 shipped.

Nope, you have no warranty. Nothing. It sucks, but they can do whatever they want. Hope you have better luck than i did.

I've had the exact amp running for a year and have absolutely no issues with it.

Aren't all the old amps Class A/B amps? The good thing about the new ones are their efficiency rating and also that they are rated at the same watt RMS regardless of what ohms your sub is at.

Is that where your amp is mounted, just to the floor of the trunk area?

Yeah, for now. It's pretty stable as I bought some screws with clamps on the bottom to secure the amp. I'm planning on sinking it down in the tirewell as I said before, but I've just been too busy to do something like that. Hopefully I'll have it done in a few weeks.

BTW: Anyone have any hints on cutting plexiglass?

Use a router or a dremel ... go slow so you don't warp it ... oh ... and hold your nose ...

Well I don't have a router table, but a dremel sounds like a good way to go. Can I just use a dremel in a drill, or how exactly do you cut through plexiglass with it?

A dremel bit in a drill would be ... well ... awkward ... a jigsaw would work too ... I just use the 'General' bits for it ... go slow, and hold my nose ... you want to pull out the bit while you're running though ... don't stop the tool before you're out of the plexi or you risk it cooling around the bit and when you restart you could crack it ...
