Default 12" Sub

It's not possible to fit a 12"sub under the strut brace, is it?

Right now I've got a 10" in the stock spot, but i want to get rid of that and use this Vega that I have laying around which has a lot more ooomph!

Not possible unless you lower the floor board.

So what are my options of getting this 12 mounted in the Z? I don't think I want to drop the floor.

You can have a custom box built to house the 12, but the 12 will not sit directly under the strut like those 10" stealth boxes. You could have most of the enclosure sit under the strut, just not the face of the woofer. You could build and enclosure on either side of the strut or use the spare tire well for the enclosure.

I like the looks of those. Is it easy to run the wires to the glove box thru the hatch? I haven't snooped around in a while.
How did you guys put those down, what did you use as a box? Any other pics, maybe as it was being installed?

How come the spare tire well solution doesn't work in the ZR? Too shallow?

Nice box contruction. My enclosure looks pretty much the same, except I used the trunk floor as the box bottom. I attached the inside of the box to the floor using L-brackets. then sealed the gaps with liquid nails. I figured this would keep anyone from stealing it. Using the floor as the bottom also eliminated the need for a spacer ring.

Very easy to run wires. just drill holes into the frame and put rubber grommets in the holes. You now have passage way from point A to B.

I got one from ZEnclosures by Mike on e-bay. The 12" sub is in a box that slides under the strut brace which puts the sub itself closer to the front seats as opposed to the back of the trunk: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissa...4804QQtcZphoto

Looks good. Sounds great. Thanks Mike.

I've been working on a custom fiberglass encloser for two 10" Boston Acouctics G5 sub and Radiator package. This is actully an early picture but you'll get the idea. I'll be posting some more recent pics tommorrow and some finishing pics on Monday. Actully, i've seen similar enclosers for 12's made by NAZIR @ WICKED CARZ. I think that's the name of his company. I've seen his name many times at this site.

I quoted wrong, about the RMS of my sub, in another thread somewhere. Oh well. To answere your question. It is a T112d4. I'm running it at 2ohms. I am pushing the max amount of RMS power it can handle. SOunds great too. The "L" brackets are on the inside of the box. I did this so that a thief wouldn't be able to remove them without taking the sub out. My sub is fastened down to the box with allen head bolts that have anchor nuts on the other side. Removing it takes a very long time unless you have a power drill and the right allen tipped socket.

That fiberglass encloser is awsome. I'm not at that skill level just yet. Did you do that yourself? If so, congrats.
