Stock Bose sounds like poo
something is wrong obviously, the question is what.
it doesnt bump at all and it seems like there is almost no "highs" the tweeters barely emenate sound IMO and the sub is doing nothing. Suposedly it sounds completely different from another 350 when they tested them side by side. They replaced the sub amp because they said that was the problem. It did not change a thing.
anyone else have this kind of trouble? The previous owner could have listened a little too loud, but the question is what is blown?

I thought the Bose system was "crappy" also until I had the Eclipse AVX2494 installed. Shop used the a harness that you can get from Crutchfield, plus a 4ch adjustable line output converter from Peripheral Electronics. It woke up the Bose system. Regardless, it is going to cost $$$, just wasn't ready to remove everything. After having to replace 4 OEM 6CD changers, which are made by Clarion not Bose, wanted to make a change. Was a lot easier to replace the HU Vs HU, speakers, amps and associated wiring.
all interesting, so i we are not crazy and it really doesnt sound good at all. We thought something was broken. I have infinities and altec lansing tweeters (old school), she went form a jl 12 inchw3 in a pro wedge and eclipses all around in her old jeep, so it is a big change
Cooper, can you make a box for 1 10 that just slides under the stabalizer bar? As in doesnt extend all the way to the seat?

Fitting a 10" is a piece of cake (compared to a 12"). Easiest route would just be getting a Zenclosure or Strut box from Nazar if your looking for understrut. Supercheap would be simply using a 10" thin truck box from Pep Boys, or building your own small enclosure from fiberglass. I just did the latter for my G/f using the lower half of an 11" bucket as a form with MDF as the top (about $30 to build).

Check out a JL Audio Stealth box which has 2 10w3's in it. i had one and liked it alot. not too cheap though but deffently high quality. it also doesnt take up any room really at least any usable space.
The speakers suxk so bad that they require pretty aggressive equalization to make them sound just bad. You can not make a silk purse out of a sow's ear even if you try really hard. Then there is the "speed sensitive" volume control which doesn't just mess with the amplitude of the music but also the equalization. The amplifiers are a joke too. I'm a freaking old fart (according to one here
) and the dang Bose suxked big time even at the safe levels I listen to it at. The headend might be not too terribly bad except that's were I think the factory equalization is stored meaning that even if you replace the speakers with real ones they'll get warped sound sent to them.
I am looking into eithere one of your rear corner magic boxes or a zenclosure
what speaker will work best with your rear magicbox? I love JL stuff and am a fan of the better MTX subs.
