Anyone had low jack installed and then installed a sound system? I'm concerned that the stereo shop may have affected the low jack system. Or is the low jack system installed in a manner that will not be discovered by a stereo shop?

 

They are mutually exclusive from each other. The LoJack installer will connect into a power source, not the stock stereo. The LoJack also comes with it's own hidden antenna so it doesn't even need the stock one.

 

Sorry, this may be off topic ... Do you REALLY want your Z back after it's stolen?

 

Most stolen cars are eventually recovered anyway...I wouldn't want mine back either, but chances are it will be left somewhere and your insurance comp will want to fix it and give it back to you.

 

Your insurance company is not going to give back all the money we Z enth. have put our cars. They will give a fair market value, based on blue book at best. Some of us in here have invested $30,000 or more in our car.(not counting the cost of the car.) Lojack can give the police the location your car before the bad guys have time to take the 1st part off. It is a must have if you have spent big $ on your Z.

 

If it's not back within 24 hours LoJack gives you $5000?

Something like that. If it's never recovered they pay the deductable ... ?

 

I have a deal where if my truck gets stolen and they don't recover it in 24 hours, I get $5K. If I buy my next vehicle from that same dealership, it is $10K.

 

Yeah i want my Z back after its been stolen, I figure with low jack you get it back pretty fast, I see a dumb thief manageing to get in, starts driveing it before he knows it police are on his ***.

You will be hard pressed to get my Z from me. You cant steal it while im at work, survalance will send security to stop any one from tampering with it and possibly arrest, if they do manage to get it, ill know with in a few minutes and i can call the police and have them track it down so at most you may get a 5-10 hour joy ride on it.

You manage to get it while im at walmart? big deal im out in about 30 minutes any ways to notice its gone, once again i call the police and the tracking begins.

Now when im at home sleeping you MAY get some time. but the lights will keep comeing on out side letting every body know motion is going on outside. If nobody notices at least every phone in the house will start to ring so im notifyed and once again you will be tracked down.

 

Have one installed, :knock on wood: havent needed to use it, also have aftermarket audio stuff installed, have run into no problems.

+1 on its a must for people who spend $$$ on aftermarket

 

Okay guys and gals... Here's the skinny on LoJack to the best of my knowledge:

1. They guarantee that your car will be located and reclaimed within 24 hours of activating the tracking signal.

2. The system is installed in a hidden location. The installer does not even tell you where it is. Each installer has different locations they put the system in, and they do not tap into your stereo equipment.

3. With the Early Warning System(there is a chip you put on your keyring, just like the chip in your Nissan Key), if your car is started without that chip in close proximity, you get an alert in any of 3 methods. Phone call, text message, or paged at your beeper. You go out to check if your car is still there, and give them a call back. If it's gone, they activate the tracking device. Ultra fast way of recliaming your car.

4. Many car thieves know that LoJack has a 24 hour guarantee. Common practice for car thieves is to steal your car by breaking in or simply towing it away on a flat bed or whatever, and then park it in a location that is safe for them for 24 hours. If no police show up, they come back and take your car to strip or sell. Note that this obviously isn't what all thieves do. Some just "smash and grab" and try to quickly take your car to strip, however, smart thieves know that it is highly dangerous.

5. LoJack pricing, especially from a "Stealership," is a sham. The dealers have contracts with a LoJack installer and they usually pay around 300 bucks for the install. When you buy your car, they try to sell you LoJack for a prive they arbitrarily name. They told me $1500 bucks!!! I knew a friend that got it from his brother's dealership for $750. I told them that, and after some work, they "finally" agreed for that price. To them, that was a "favor" to me. Screw that! I didn't get it through them.

$600.00 for the basic and 900.00 for the Early Warning System here in MD. I got the Early Warning System and the Master Lock Steering Lock. Nothing will stop a pro if he wants your ride, but you can keep the joyriders away if you discourage them. They would rather go for the easy steal.
