Default What else do I need?

I bought an Avic-D1 (came with a wiring harness) and (2) JL Audio 10w6v2.
I still need an amp...was thinking about the JL Audio 1000/1.

What connections do i need for the amps...subs...ect. Thinking about the XA-PCS4-1 jl audio kit. Is that sufficient? Here is the link.

http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_c...l.php?cat_id=9

I'm planning on Installing the navy, subs, and amp myself...with some help.

Thanx

Installing the navy?

I'm thinking you'll need four more channels worth of amplifier as the 1000/1 is a single channel for the woofer. The 22 watts of the headend is giong to need about 50 watts of that thousand watt amplifier to match ... unless you want listen to just the bass beat.

4 AWG cable ought to be good enough and give you about 1800 something watts worth of power ... of course the car's alternator isn't capable of but about half of that.

You could also use a Nissan adapter which is going to connect yoru Pioneer to the factory cable without cutting/destroying the factory wires. Crutchfield sells them.

Can't I use the 1000/1 amp to power both of my subs? Cause I don't intead to change the factory speakers as of now.

And the Navy came with a wiring harness...can't i use that?

The Navy is the sub..right Paul? I have a 500/1 and yes you can power both subs as the JL amps have dual out connects. Configured Resistance needs to be within 1.5 to 4 ohms though.

But the bigger issue is you are going to be creating TREMENDUOUS amounts of bass and nothing beyond that. Stock head unit power is like 12W per channell with moderate distortion. So from 15 - 80hz you will be pumping 1,000 watts and 80hz to 20,000hz you will be pumping maybe 50.. off balance

Wouldn't the Avic-D1 provide better power to the stock speakers though?

What we are saying is that the amount of bass you have will drown your mids and highs... I have a 10W6V2 firing towards the rear of the car powerd by an Alpine amp - most of the time the bass is way too much for me...

yeah, your right Leo, I was confusing this post with someone who's keeping the stock head unit. The Avic will probably put out around 20w or so per chn..to the stock 6.5's

I could put a bass remote to control the bass...right?
And the wiring kit I stated before should be fine...right?

Thanks,
Leo

- Yes you would need to buy the RBC-1 controller from JL

- IMO no.. With the wattage you are pushing with the sub amp alone you should go with 0/1 or 2g. And if you add another amp (necessary), you will be definitely over the llimit for 4g.

Found this on the JL Audio website.
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_amps.php?amp_id=221

Dual mono speaker output connections: Accept up to 8 AWG wire
+12V and Ground connections: Accept 4 AWG wire (required)

So would it be ok to go 0 or 2 AWG since it says that 4 AWG is "required."

Yeah the Amp if its anything like the 2 JLs I have will accept 4AWG and nothing larger. That is OK, you can run 4G to your individual Amps, but you need to run 0 or 2AWG from your battery to your distribution point. Start at the + side of battery, run 0/2 and fuse it within 18" of the post. Run it through the firewall and back to the rear passwnger cubby. Buy a 1 to 2 distribution block from Jl it would have 1 input of 0/1/2AWg and two outputs of 4AWG. yes JL is right, the 1000/1 will be fine with a single 4AWG line..but you will be pushing the envelope if you read up on recommended wire size/length/amperage for AWG wire. If you ever need to install another amp or EQ devices you will be glad you ran the 0/1/2 instead of 4AWG.

In order not to splice into the factory harness, I need an adaptor. I found one but want to make sure it's the right one. I have a non-bose by the way.

that is very similar to the set up that i have but im running 10W3's and that is enough bass. the D1 puts out more power to you factory speakers and they will sound better (not to mention that there is full system controls for all the speakers). you definatly need a full wiring kit for all of tha. if you are not very fimiliar with all of the install then you should get it put in by a pro/ they can do all of it for around $250.
