TSX owners help audio question
hi, before you all flame me for asking about a different car here i used to be on torontoaccords for help but the tsx has little or no help on the forums at all
anyways my friend is doing an audio install in his tsx and was wondering should we put in 6 new speakers ? we were thinking about the infinitys
or is 6 too much pull 2 out and have 4?
and if anyone has ever done any work to a tsx could you help out on whats good (parts and what sounds good where)
thx for any help

Honestly, I don't understand why you would want to put 6 speakers in. Are there 6 designated factory places for speakers? If there are only 4, then go with 4. If you get the correct speakers, 4 should sound just as good or better than 6. I have always heard good things about the Infinity Kappas. I have no experience with high end aftermarket speakers. Maybe Paul350z can help you guys since he is an audiophile.
If there are six speakers in the tsx then you should put six replacement back in. Since I have no idea what a tsx is I'll take a wild guess that there are two in the doors and two in the rear - unless it's a motorcycle then they'll probably be all up front.
Ideally you'll have subwoofer(s), mid-bass, and tweeters and a matching three-way active/passive crossover with crossover points to match. On the lower crossover don't go too much above 80 Hz to avoid the distraction of the bass coming from behind with the rest of the sound coming from up front.

hey bud, i hae done a coupla tsx...and have quite a bit of experience with them...can you tell me what your goal is with your set up?
one the biggest issues iwth the tsx is the factory headunit severely limits the bass as you turn the volume up, so basically mean, if you keep the headunit, there isnt much point to having a sub..
i did an aftermarket headunit in the storage pocket below the stock center console with all new wiring and it sounded really nice...
but again, let me know what your goal is

i know exactly what you mean about it sounding like crap withthe subs...
I did this to help it out a little:
the thing that will help it a little is removing the rear 6x9s, so the bass can flow into the cabin a little better, but that leaves you with only front speakres.
i did the tsx with a focus on front speakres, putting a nice 6.5" comp set in the stock locations, and two crystal 10s int he back with mesh grille and a carpet goes over the entire thing, all run off a phoenix gold amp, very simple install, but it really made a world of difference when we put in an aftermarket headunit. the stock headunit with its processing is just pure evil

You are going to have a lot of sound quality and interference issues with the stock headunit. My buddy kept his stock headunit with a pretty nice amp and speaker setup and it sounds terrible.
