Default Laser jammers/shifters

Are these illegal, particularly in CA? The shifter I am referring to is the Escort ZR3.

Thanks!

Technically, lasar jammers like the ZR3 are not illegal anywhere in the US, but there is a ban on them in Utah and CA. I am getting my Escort 8500 and Shifter ZR3 installed today, it should be very cool.

Did you get the ZR3 installed ?

If so, do you have feedback on the ZR3/8500 combo ?

yes. I don't really have any feedback though. I haven't gotten any tickets, though I have been pulled over twice and received warnings both times. Not sure if that really proves anything. The 8500/ZR3 combo seems to work very well. I only had one problem and that is with false alarms on the rear laser jammer. At dusk while driving east, the sun hits the rear jammer at such an angle that it causes a false alarm. I ended up just disabling the rear jammer since it's not really that important anyway.

I went to this site (thanks for the link, Plucky) and noticed that radar detectors aren't illegal in California? Is that correct?

I always thought they were since I started driving out here several years ago. Maybe I just assumed... can anyone confirm that they're legal... (I'm not sure how updated the site is).
