Default question about front speakers....

I am replacing my front speakers with Infinity Kappa 63.5s like a few have done, and I want to use the existing wiring from the head unit to the speakers. For the stock speakers is there a crossover inline somewhere that sends high frequencies to the tweeter and mid/lows to the 6.5 in the door?

The Infinity has a tweeter built in that no doubt is better than the stock one, but if I just disconnect the stock tweeters and hook the new speakers to the wire will the high frequencies be coming through? Or will I have to run new wiring straight from the HU to the speaker?

No, you will be fine. Take the door off an you will see the tweets have a separate harness (the brown one). From my little test last night the tweets are just about full range. I put bass blockers on them and they sounded much better! or just disconnect them. you will lose some sound but it is kinda crappy sound anyway. One thing I did notice is that the grill in the door is not completely perforated. The speaker angle is good though, so t does not matter!

Good luck. Be careful with the door snaps. I have had my doors off 3 times now and almost break them each time.

Hmm I noticed that too, I was thinking about drilling some holes in the stock plastic grill. I figured if I drilled them in a "Z" pattern or something it would probably look alright.

What does the speaker angle have to do with the un-perforated grill? Seems to me that if your speakers are firing straight into a plastic panel then your sound waves are gonna be screwed.

If you look take the grill out and put your door back on then you will see the speaker sits in their funny (compared to the contour of the door). Make sure you put the grill back on correctly, or the perforations will not be in the original space. Let me find a pic.
