Personally. The Ipod video. I had a wiring harness made by my roomates computer buddies and now I have video and music access from my Ipod directly to TV.

If you already have aux inputs, then the iPod (video or not) and this cable is all you would need : http://www.xtrememac.com/audio/cables/roadshow.php

Re the wire, yeah I guess you can cut it off and hardwire. There are many wire sets around. I like this one because it doesn't take the sound output from the mini-jack (headset plug) but from the base connector.

Finding a song : I haven't plugged the iPod to the car yet, so hard to tell. But "the way of the iPod" is playlist. You setup playlists by author, album, genre, favorites, most played, etc so when you get in the car you start a playlist and go. I don't think many people sit there and change songs after every song... at least I wouldn't.

You can also go directly to the library and play songs from an artist (you can shuffle between them), album, genre, etc even if you haven't setup a playlist.

Sweet. Someone finally came out with one that works with the video! I wish I would have known that before I had someone make one.

Note : if you have a video at firmware 1.1 there are bugs, update firmware to 1.2.1. Visit Apple store.

3 dual layer DVD's will give you about 25.5 gigs. thats what i put my mp3's on. Why use more eqipment if your hend end plays dvd's and mp3's. no need for an ipod.

My iPod is about half full and that's over nine days worth of music - never hearing the same song twice. Most radio stations have a play list of between 250 and 400 songs in comparison.
