NPS? Remote start question
I order a Compustar starter on Ebay. The guys sends me an automatic one when I ask for manual. It took me 1 month before I actually came so I'm hesistant about shipping this back to him for him to ship me the right one since he seems kind of shady.
Anyhow, my friend said I can still install it if the 350Z has a NPS (neutral position system???). This way, I can use my auto compustar brain and wire it to check to see if its on neutral and only starts if it is. So my question is does out car have this thing?
Thanks for you help everyone.

To my knowledge the car does not have neutral position system. I have a manual 2003 Z and my buddy did the remote start w/ a Crime Stopper system and it works good. The only thing is it works good whether the car is in neutral or in gear!
Let me know if you find anything different out.

You can hook up the cruising control wire to a 2 way remote start. I'm getting that done soon, my provider just needs to get some parts in before I can start the install. When your Z is in gear and you accidentally knock it out of gear cruise control cancels.
I just posted a thread with some videos of what your asking for. Oh and if the car is ever to start up in 1st gear there is a Break diod that will kill the engine. i cant explain it well but my installer( he is an amazing installer, for crazy stereo systems and other car electronics) is gave me an explanation. although ive never started it in 1st it wont lurch more then a few feet at the most... i never want to find out though!
Most newer Nissans contain a PNP (Park/Neutral Position) switch. The switch runs between the manual tranny and the ECU. The switch is very similar to the back up switch, but instead of detecting reverse it detects Neutal. If the car is in 'N' the switch will output a (-) signal that is directly compatible with most remote start systems.
One word of caution, this is a mechanical switch, and it can fail, so I would check the operation of the switch at least monthly (try to remote start it while in gear, while you sit in the car ready to shut it down if it does start).
