Wow its amazing what people will say for their own self reassurance. The 06's are much higher quality than the previous models and it doesn't take a genius to figure that out. I've had both so I can say this with confidence. If you all are still happy with your cheap little motorized door that looks like it came off of a power wheels then more power to you..

On another note, does anyone know if the motorized door being sold at courtesy nissan is the same one in the '05? I know it says '06, but it looks identical to my '05. I have a electrical engineer buddy who says he can wire it up without a harness, but I want a match to my current interior.

Same here. I just want the motorized door and look good in the 06. To answer an earlier question...the motorized door comes in handy for folks who do not want that area exposed all the of the time. I'm building a controller/display center in this area, and I don't want it all visible all the time. Others may not want their monitor stolen every other week. So the door comes in handy for that.

I bought the 06 motorized one. After a few days of trying various wiring options on it, I've determined that it's really not feasable to power without the stock wiring harness. After getting in touch with a number of parts dealers, I have deterined that the only way to get this harness is either from a wrecked late-model 05 or early 06 witht he motorized option... or to buy the whole main dash wiring at about $1000.
From what I've determined, the circuit can't support s simple 12v power supply. It frys the components.
I was never able to determine what wiring would have originally gone to it's stock harness, but I can tell you there were a number of leads going in to it and they weren't just redundant + and - inputs.
It DID however, perfectly match the stock 2006 interior.
I would suggest either going with an earlier model manual door and maybe paint or otherwise try to colormatch the exterior, or just get the open 2006 one.
I'll answer any questions I can, but ultimately I'm in the same boat as the rest of you.

Did you ever get the right part? I am considering doing the same for a car pc and I like the look without the door. Any chance you can give me the part numbers for the pieces you needed?
Thanks

hmm
to be honest it looks good but the only thing i would be worried about in the droptop verison i would want the door to come down on the screen because the sun beating on it if you leave the top down might damage the screen i have an 05 ZR with the 03 cubby door because i installed the car pc and when i leave the top down i just pull the door down and not have to worry about damage the screen

I have an 06 coupe and I am just interested in putting a screen in the pocket. I dont care if the door is motorized or not. Is there a non motorized door that will fit a screen and match the interior perfect? I am new to the whole Z scene and looking for some good help. Thanks guys!
