Default installing subs with the Bose system???

i just got back from East Coast customs to ask them how much it would cost for them the install some subs in my car. When they looked at the car he said that since i have a Bose system i have to replace everything from my headunit to my factory speakers in order for the sub to work correctly because the bose speakers will not work with a aftermarket subwoofer. He also said he had to mess with my navigation since its intigrated into the speakers...is this true? or is he just tryin to make some extra cash...

PLEASE HELP

thanks in advance

He's just not very well informed apparently. You can absolutely run a different deck without replacing all of your speakers. When i installed a pioneer deck in my last Z, all of my speakers worked perfectly fine, as did the 15" sub i installed also. The stock bose sub no longer worked, but its cause I had the wrong wiring harness and Im pretty sure with the right one, even the bose sub will work.

You can also use your stock deck and install a sub. You would purchase a high input diverter, you hook it up to the 2 of the speakers in the car, then it has a box that converts that into a RCA plug so you can hook it up to an amp. (Sorry if thats a little hard to comprehend, but its really not as techinical as it sounds.)

I am sure it can be done as well. You need a separate amp for the subs and controller switch. Minus well keep the Bose since your probably still paying interest on them like I am. Two tens would do you fine. There is a site on here that install custom boxes for the 350Z.

He is just trying to make money, or he is very mis-informed.

He will have to do nothing but tap the rear speaker (or subwoofer) signal with a hi-lo RCA out and thats it.

The standard power wire, ground wire, remote turn on will have to be run ... but thenavi and head unit will not need to be touched.

yup...will it produce the bets sound interms of the subbass? prolly not, standard radios usually dont yield the best response, espeically towards the lower end, and i am not sure if hte bose plays with the bass as you adjust the volume, this is a big thing wtih some bose radios and results in pretty poor bass as you raise the volume...

but back on point, it is certainly possible, as jim said, without messing with navi...

it is possible.. but.. it's not going be good as with aftermarket HU..
i just put mine 2 weeks ago, with LOC and JL 500/1 and 10" type R.
I connected LOC to boss stock sub wire and works.. i had to do this, cuz they don't have dash kit for 06... (i guess now they have it..) i would go this way first and consider get aftermarket HU or not..

Ya, thats the thing I was trying to say to buy. Ive used those in a couple of different cars in order to still use the stock headunit, but add some better bass from a couple of subs.

I also have a bose system and was able to put an aftermarket deck(kenwood) with the help of Crutchfield. They supplied all the necessary parts free of charge. I also had the same problem with installers because everybody thought it wasn't possible. I'm running 2 jl's with an excelon deck.
