Does your car have factory Bose or not? That will be a big factor in what you need.

Crutchfield has a "what fits my car" wizzard on their Internet sight which will give you the proper wiring harness interface. I highly suggest you get this $20 cable rather than cut off and splice into your car's wiring harness. Nothing beats soldiering over a nice plastic dash for 45 minutes for pure enjoyment. One slip of the pencil and you've burned dash, carpet, or burned leather seats.

If the headend you're looking at is a single DIN size unit you'll need a dash kit. I highly recommend the Mepro unit that is not the one carried by Crutchfield - the Mepro is stronger and a tigher fit. I bought the one from Crutchfield and returned it for the Mepro.

you can use crimp butt ends to connect the wires... if you can put heatshrink tubing, better but not necessary... IMHO learn to solder... you can solder it on your table ahead of time before going to the car...

connect the HU wires to the harness you buy from the store and then connect that harness to the stock one...

bought my stuff from cardomain.com and it came with free harness and DIN adapter...
make sure you have long screw drivers that are magnetic...
it took me 1 hour to install a new HU... but I was doing it along taking my time...

Most difficult thing was unhooking the connectors which was frozen solid (I had to put that HU in in 30 degree weather - couldn't wait)

For future reference, these are the exact part #, should be ok for 03-05:

Metra PN 70-7550 - into-car harness
Metra PN 99-7402 - dash kit
AI PN NDK-740 - dash kit

Why replace your factory head unit, theres nothing wrong with it and no other head unit will look as good in that location! What you need is a 3Sixty. It will allow you to retain your factory radio and add aftermarket amps and speakers. The EQ in our car is severe and a LOC isn't a good solution. 3Sixty will analyze the inputs, sum the necessary inputs to gte a full range response (20 to 20) normalize, or flatten them out to give you a flat full range response. I used the Metra kit as well..and its great....currently I have a single DIN HU...and plan to switch to a double DIN later on, so I dont really need to get new kit when that time comes around.

and definately get a plug-in harness....
