Default Instructions for disassembly

OK guys, I did something really stupid. I accidentally hit the "eject" button on my Omnifi, which is usually how you detach the faceplate. However in my specific installation, it cannot be removed. Therefore I now have a partially detached face, so the unit no longer powers up. So basically I need to take apart the entire rear part of the car to get behind the unit. I really don't want to pay the audio installer to do this, so if I could just get behind the thing I could snap it back into place. Anyone know where I can find some step by step instructions here? Thanks.

Dang, you've got a bit of a job on your hands.

You have to pull the plastic from the back of the area, then the plastic from the front - and finally the one piece that wraps around the top - removing lots of the side panels in the process.

Download the 2004 Service Manual here.-

Step-by-step instructions for removing interior trim are in the 'ei' section. Good luck.

Damn - I don't think I am going to attempt it then. It would take me days and I would probably put it back together wrong. It is just such a shame because now I am going to have to wait until I can afford to do the subs and the amp before I get this thing working. And I can't even get the home version working because it is so complicated. Don't buy one of these things (the Rockford Omnifi) - there is a reason why the product was quickly discontinued.

Do you guys agree that this is beyond moronic? How could they install something where you could accidentally hit a button that requires you to take apart the entire car to fix it. Its amateur hour over here. I am going to have this thing completely redone.

Absolutely! A component should never self-destruct with a button push.

Would a thousand monkeys with typewriters given a thousand years write a great novel?

I think I am just going to walk away. I took a big chance bringing my car back to this guy to repair other items - they are a careless and unprofessional shop. The smart thing to do is to just cut my losses and have the next shop do it right.

Great Decision! Never let proven incompetent folks attempt to fix their mistake and then create new problems.

I think so too - I can just picture spending a day to fix it all and then have a passenger that doesn't know any better try to operate the thing when I'm not paying attention and cause it to happen again. It is almost a sure thing that it will happen by accident again. I think I want to have some custom doors fabricated to hide it anyways. The other "mail slot" was hanging out partially and didn't close properly when I got the car back. There were also missing screws and other panels that weren't secure. Very sloppy work. Though by installing it this way, he was able to mold a trim panel that eliminates any space around it. The next guy will need to come up with a creative solution to retain this type of clean look without hindering the intended operation of the unit.
