Just picked this up for the iPod
Anyone ever installed one of these?

I'm probably gonna tackle it this weekend. Is it very tough to get the HU out?

Yeah I already have an eXcelon HU. I've just never removed an aftermarket headunit from the Z and didn't know if it requires removal of the whole center stack or if it can just be removed. I'll probably snake the wire through the lower partition below the radio and hook the iPod up there. So is it possible to just remove the radio and hook this up?
You have to remove the entire center dash piece. It's not too hard though. There are step by step instructions on the site somewhere, but it's only 6 screws and a little pulling.
edit: found them for you

I guess it depends on how it was mounted. In every aftermarket head I've mounted, I attached the head unit to the mounting bracket w/ screws, so sliding it our wouldn't be an option.

I have installed that adapter. It is a piece of cake. I fed the cable, for connecting the ipod, up the trans tunnel and have my ipod in the cup holder area - not good when coffee spills!

But then again, I am very impatient so having to take apart the dash every time I wanted to remove the head unit would be bad for me.
