Default So, anyone here about these BelCanto screens on eBay?

I was just on eBay and I seen these screens from BelCanto. Never heard of the company or even if they will fit the Z but I bought one. What do you guys and girls think of them?

Looks like a good deal and the seller has excellent feedback... though I'm a bit wary of buying such items internationally. Keep us posted on how it turns out for ya.

its a hit or miss buying screens internationally some are niced, some are horrible, some are decent but hten have bad reliablity. but for one thing, forget about warranty

thats why i do what i do, i go over, pick out the good screens, and import under my own brand, and sell them here, that way, you can get cheaper screens, that are good for sure, and at a lower cost and with warranty

(Hi-Jack)

16psibrick, you got any nice 7 inch screens like the farenheit? I am currently using an Alpine monitor, but want something that fits better.

Thanks,
John

At $360 it's not much of a risk. You're getting little to no warranty or return abilities so you pay your money and take your chances but $360 isn't much to worry about.

i do have a pretty good 7" widescreen, waht i dont know though is if it will fit in a Z, i wil find out soon enough, as i am working on a Z and i will check it out

i can tell you what to expect with that double din unit, i acutaly know and have seen that particular unit:

1. picture quality: decent
2. user interface: horrible, unless they have udpated software, everyhting is got like 1980s level menu graphix, and everyhting is hard to use, radio tuner may not work well
3. sound quality, average, dirty and weak output, but if you are just running speakers off it and not an amp, you may not notice
4. reliablility...so so, form my experinece, the double din units's most prone to failure in these two areas: motorizations mechanism, and dthe dvd player just stop playing dvds one day...

this is the reason why i did not import a double din or any in dash all ine one unit, simply becuase the quality and userability isnt not up to par.

sorry if i sound harsh on this, maybe they have made improvements over the last few months that i dont know about...best of luck

honestly, interms of screen quality , they should be fine, but making a good lcd is easy, making the good user interface requires a lot of money, reearch and software development...

in the end though, its prolly worth the 360 bucks that you paid for it

Ill be happy with a good screen good dvd and music sound. I dont mind interface but if the sound is all muddy then I'll be mad, I have a 1000w amp and two 10's that will now go to waste.

I am sorry. If it is not a well known brand either in stores or on the internet. and or I cannot say the name without have to say it 2 or 3 times to get it right. Then I would not personally trust it in my car.

Update!

The system has been installed and it looks great! Originally it did not fit but I took it to some custom installers that made a simple dash kit. I will personally rate the system:

Horrible Bad Decent Good Awesome

Screen:Good, although I can see the screen refreshing. I think it has a refresh rate on 50Hz. I don't think that's good but it looks good.

Sound: Awesome, originally it was run on speaker wire and it sounded ok, but highs and lows were not differentiated. Switched over to RCA's and now it sounds GREAT!

TV Tuner: Horrible. I get five channels and only 3 of them have sound. I heard TV tuners don't even work on the high end systems, but what ever.

Interface: Bad, it is definately an interface from 1980, but it gets the job done.

Compatibility with different media: Good, CD's work, DVD's work, and homemade DVD's work. I have to figure out how to make a VCD for testing the VCD feature.

Looks: Good, the install really complimented the system. It is just a black head unit but in the night, turn off the monitor and the blue lights in the night really look good.

If you want to know anything else and are looking for a low cost system I would recommend this one. It is cheap and if it gets stolen I didn't lose a high end system that costs in the 1,000 - 1,500 range that others are paying for the same features.

I will upload pics this weekend if anyone is wondering how it looks...

Immpressive, shows that someone always gets a better deal. If mine breaks I'll test that one. Yeah right if mine breaks goes to show you that your don't actually save money by being cheap. I just dont want to lose mad money if it gets stolen...
