Did anyone else get the security window and body etching?
I had numbers eched on the windows and the numbers on the other areas of the car like doors, hood, hatch, etc. I was wondering if anyone else had this done and if it was even worth it. I noticed only one other 350 at the meet last weekend that had this done. Has anyone had a car stolen that had this done and if so what was the benefit? I'm sure I'm going to get the you shouldn't have done that like I got when I said I bought the extended warranty but I like the thought of any additional security.
I have to make an appointment to get the etching done. The dealer actually provided this free of charge, so I figured what the heck. This AUTO ARMOR as they call it provides monetary benefits to pay insurance deductables should your car be stolen.
At $298.00 I probably would not have purchased it.

My salesman wanted to add it to the price when I took delivery. The way he explained it was that if the car went to a cho-shop that the parts could be identified with this system. There would be some type of $ recovery if the parts were found. I think the price was $150. Wasn't going to change my insurance at all so I said screw it. Oh well...
The security protection I got is called "Security Solutions Theft Deterrent System". Same deal with VIN eched on and provides pay back for deductible, travel expenses or $1000 towards purchase of new vehicle.
I don't see a specific line item for this, but there is $99 customer service item not accounted for. Guess this was my cost.
It helped reduce my insurance cost....guess this makes up for $99.
