Default If you have a kenwood ddx-8017 please help

hey wats up I just installed the kenwood ddx-8017 headunit. The install went great and the device works. However, i just cannot get the remote to work no matter what I do. I'm well aware that i may have a faulty remote, but since I bought this new, i'm trying to rule out that possibility just for now. For those of you who do have this, how did you get your remote to work? Did you just simply put in batteries and it automatically worked? For some reason, nothing happens when I press the buttons. I have tried every single mode there is. I also tried new batteries so that can't be it. Is it supposed to light up when you press the center button? Any help would be great, this is driving me nuts!

There is the posibility that you have a bad remote, but there is a function in the set up of the unit that turns the remote receiver off. You might want to double check this setting. It is under the tool settings (little green button with the wrench on it)

hm i think that may be it then. do you guys have the pac device installed as well for your steering wheel controls? One more thing, for those of you that do have it, i noticed that the "position" button looks like it might light up when you press it. Does yours light up? The reason being is if it is supposed to light up and mine does not, then that may be another reason to know that the remote is dead (rather than a misonfiguration from the headunit)

This could be completely useless infor now that you sent the remote back but did your remote have a function select on the side of it? I have the 7017 and it took me like 15 min to realise the function was on aux ant it wouldnt change the station of the head unit.

check:

SETUP on the main menu screen

select SYSTEM SETUP

make sure REMOTE SENSOR is set ON

hope this helps solve your remote issue

edit: that's how it is for the DDX-7017
