Exclamation Grounding Cables - Worth It?

Are grounding cables worth it? I've heard some people swear by them, and others say they are a cheap scam. For $40, should I invest in grounding cables to enhance the electrical performance of my Z? What, exactly, would they enhance?

Another NB

If you wanna go the cheaper way go for the pretty color wires to match your Z. I know it works!

They're for looks only, nothing else. Don't spend over $50. As an alternative, you could get some nice looking 4 gauge speaker wire and make your own.

Hey man I was being serious. I was trying to tell you that you might like the way they look in your engine if you use a distribution block and multiple grounding points. I did that and it improved my idle. The more grounding points you have in your Z equalize resistance and voltage between various ground points.

Now I'll go drive off the cliff...but not in the Z.

Lol jaminkid, sry if you were trying to be serious. Sounded like you were trying to be sarcastic with the NB thing.
Ok, thanx guys. I'll put the money elsewhere then.

Some cars it helps with grounding and you may notice better response from lights, radio, reception, etc... I don't think the Z is one of them cars though.

I'd watch yourself jamin...

You are going to get a jvanquish-like reputation here.

Your post count (which is over 100 after only 2 weeks) really doesn't say much for you here... especially if all you do is bash "NB"s like I've seen several times today. Quite brave for someone with a February 2006 join date.

I just installed these grounding kits and it does help to a certain extent. What I noticed:

performance - smooter acceleration (no gains as far as hp).
lights - tad bit brighter.
radio - no difference.
Startup - no difference.
Antesthetics - looks great!

This is a looks mod. A little bit of differece, but nothing you would notice too much.

^ Open MS Word, type "Anesthetic" and go to Synonyms.

I think you meant Aesthetic.

No harm intended like jamin from above.

Silkk - I'mjust joking man. I went through the same thing when I asked questions in my earlier posts. But I actually answered his questions further down. Did you read? I don't intent to go out like jvanquish. I'm here to learn too and pass on whatever info I can...

^ It's all good. Understood. I think you just need to be a little more sensitive with your board etiquette about it. The laughing point smiley is either a) a very good thing [something very funny] or b) very bad thing [make fun of somebodies stupidity] and the wink face is generally a) very good [i'm joking bro] or b) i'm being a sarcastic d*ck. Your msg came across as both b)'s and thus I just thought I'd throw out there to be careful or you'll be changing your name to Bee Ess Pee like our buddy jvanq to try to escape from everyones hatred.

I found a set of grounding wires for $25, red, look nice. I'm not looking for a super gain in performance from some $25 wires, lol. But some people say that they see a small difference in their electrical system... maybe I'll give it a shot. For $25, why not, I just bought a $32,000 car... wats $25 more?

^ That's the spirit!

Just make sure they are a quality wire or you might deteriorate your vehicles electrical system.

I've got a voltage stabilizer and a grounding wire kit. I needed that because I got 3 ams and 3 10" woofers plus my other components. So I need to make sure my lights didn't dim, battery didn't run low, etc.

I used to be a hater as well as my friends used to push 400+ hp on their little hondas with ONE ground wire from the valve cover to the frame. Although I was pessimistic, a friend of mine that owns his own shop recommended a grounding system made by SUN AUTO since they saw great results on his STi and his friends 500+ hp EVO.

Skeptically, I threw it on my car and it made a difference! Don't expect gains like 10 WHP like an exhaust or something like that, but you will notice the subtle gains such as smoother throttle response, consistent power throughout your electronics, and a bit more power (maybe 1-5 hp depending on the car). I was so taken back by what I witnessed that I wrote a testimonial for SUN AUTO on their site and soon built a relationship with them. Although the gains are minimal, I recommend them since they do not effect emmisions and look great under the hood.

Just remember that just like anything. You get what you pay for. Do research and see why SUN AUTO is so respected in the JDM community. They make a lot of the OE ground systems for car manufacturers in Japan such as Mitsubushi, Toyota, etc. They also make the NISMO grounding kit!

Check them out and if you are interested in anything speak to Hiro and tell him that Rick referred you.

For my personal experience, I bought a grounding kit off Z-Enterprises ("z327" on Ebay). I honestly cannot see myself spending $100+ on some copper 4 guage speaker wire. 4 guage copper wire is 4 guage copper wire. I paid $40 + $10 shipping and handling and I have experienced the same gains as Rickdogg is describing. Works great!
