Question working on SQ system, need help from Dubai

hi guys im planning with my installer on a SQ sound system for my 2005 Z. its the first modification so far and I want to be careful but here is what I plan to do:

- Dynamat doors, rear speaker panel, boot area
- Nokia Bluetooth car kit
- custom panel for bluetooth button and 2 neon switches (in seat warmer panel)
- rear parking sensors (indicator on top of centre console)
- rear camera

- JVC KD-AVX1 DVD head unit with 3" monitor
- JVC 12-CD MP3 changer (installed in small rear storage compartment)
- 8" or 9" LCD screen installed in cubby (flip-up removed)
- Merlin 60GB MPEG4/MP3 playable hard disk custom installed under head unit (removable)
- Boston Acoustics front component speakers in custom fabricated speaker pod (powered by JL amp)
- Boston tweaters custom mounted in stock location
- Boston Acoustics SL65 rear coaxial speakers (powered by JVC head unit)
- JL Audio 10w7 subwoofer in custom box with plexiglass and neons
- JL Audio 500/1 amp for sub + JL Audio 300/2 amp for front speakers custom mounted on top of sub box
- Soundstream 25-Farad Capasitor custom mounted between amplifiers
- Tsunami Cables for everything
- Monster 24K gold plated positive battery terminal

any suggestions are welcomed, im from Dubai (middle east) so our choices are limited here and so are the expertise.

just a few important Qs:

Q: I have the non-navi Z with the flip up cubby that doesnt go in, is it possible to install the one that does from the nav version? I might have to remove the lid if i want to install a screen there (but means I can install a much larger one than 7")

Q: the sub box that i see most people install on their Zs under the strut bar seem to retain access to the spare wheel under the boot carpet. is this true or will I have to remove the spare wheel??

Q: I would like to keep my rear speakers as I have tried listening to just the front, i really dislike the idea of front staging. considering I watch DVDs and do like listening to music in surround. is it neccesary to connect the rear speakers to an amp or just leave them since most of the sound quality would be from the front?

Q: anyone recommends installing Dynamat on the floor and ceiling of the car? dont know how much of a difference that would make in terms of sound, heat, road noise, etc.

thanks everyone.

put the amps in the hollow area behind your seat, where the stock subwoofer would go, in your heat i would reccomend having a 12 volt PC fan installed custom to get fresh air in the area....you may be fine without it if you don't push them hard alot.
your sub box should not stick out past the strut bar-spare is fine where it is
dynamat is good

Dont forget, after its all installed, to have your SQ, RTA and tuned. I RTA mine and it made a very big difference after tuning it.

+1 on above. Also look into amps with built-in heat sink and fans. They will stay cool on their own.

Real time Analysis, like taking a laptop and microphone than using a specific program to analize the sound it has you make from a cd, it tells you what corrections to make

just for the heck of it marvin, when you post, put the tempature down, so everyone can see how hot it will be getting as time passes. temp in your car when you get in would be a treat too, i know you can hit 160 in a car in the summer

I would be worried about some of the interior parts in the summer. ive had painted fibreglass crack under heat and various plastics melt.

summer can reach 48 degrees C (dont know what that is in F, maybe 130?) but I have measured the inside temperature of my moms VW passat with black leather interior, no tinted windows, ushaded in 43 degree C outside temp.. the inside temp was well over 60 C.

48C max outside in Dubai's summer? It was close to 55C when I was there in July not too long ago. The cold water faucet in my hotel bathroom was giving nothing but boiling hot water!

i dont have one either! what I meant was if the cubby lid goes in after you lift it to view the screen. or it just sticks out (hence a storage space)

hi scarface,

ive already worked out a deal with Car Audio People on the whole thing. ide rather not use the OEM nav since its a lot more complicated to use with aftermarket parts i think.

I have a JL Stealthbox in my car and that makes the spare tire well cover a little difficult to remove, but not impossible. The Stealthbox doesn't extend under the strut bar. If your custom box extends under the strut bar, your cover will be difficult to remove. If you're in doubt, remove the spare tire before you install the box. You can always have someone bring you the spare if you get in trouble on the road, but removing the box is a hassle no matter where you want to do it.

Dream would you have a picture of the JL stealthbox? it would help to know how far it extends so i can go along with that. im planning on cutting the wheel well cover along the edge of the box so i can flip it up with the carpet and hopefully remove the wheel from under.

I have no picture right now. Try this one. https://my350z.com/forum/attachment....0&d=1127844499

Look at the left side where the pink thing is. The little ledge it sits on is where the Stealthbox sits. The box extends a little past the ledge, about to where the blue marking under the end of the ruler is. The spare tire cover edge rests on that blue marking area, so the box covers it a little bit.
