Default mid level deck. opinions

I really woudl like to keep the double din deck look. I find alot of the pockets etc don't look clean, kinda cheap.

I think I have it narrowed down to .......
Kenwood DPX 501
701 is the excelon, but I think i rather have the look of the 501. THose bright color screens bother me at night.

cool feature: they both have a usb port right on the front, you cna just plug in a mem stick and use the deck controls to play the music from it.

I like it.

i wish the 701, excelon had the same display as this. Not so bright, and in your face with all the moving light pictures.

Nice find! I favor the 2DIN look myself, but hadn't found a unit in the US market that looked good (and did NOT have a cassette player). If I go with a single DIN, I plan on covering up the empty pocket to make it look neat.

By the way, I bet motion can be turned off on the 701. Check in its manual to find out.

EDIT: Man, you may just have helped me find an HU. By researching more on this (http://www.me-mag.com/installercentr...dy.cfm?nid=606 is a good article) I am getting pretty convinced that 701 will be just right for me. It has everything I like in the new Pioneer 980BT (also a CES '06 introduction), and it's a double DIN...something I've always preferred. My only objection is that it can only be used with Sirius and I am more of an XM guy.

i have a single din...and in the slot below, i lined it with a sticky pad for my cellphone and other things that I don't want rolled around...the car has no place for a phone...anywhere you put it, it'll get thrown around, and I'm not about to let my phone get scratched up everytime i take a hard turn....hahaha....yeah...but you can line the space with a sticky pad and you don't have to worry about your $700 phone rolling around...

sounds decent. I'm not sure what you mean about not storage room, there are lots of little pockets, not to mention in the center console, and the cubby hole. ... put one of your sticky pads in there.
