Hi, Can anyone help me switch out my factory spec radio for...
Hello Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone could help me out...I bought the factory spec standard CD/radio with my '06 350Z by mistake and saw someone offering to sell the upgraded 6CD changer for the same model. I have a money back guarantee with this guy if I purchase it and it doesn't work. Is it possible to switch out the factory spec for the upgraded version? What would be required? Thanks,

With upgraded you mean the Bose version of non-Bose ?
The Bose version comes with Amps (and speakers with different Ohms if I recall correctly). not an easy switch.

I don't believe the wiring harnesses are the same so it would take quite a bit of work. Unless they've substatially improved the bose system since 03 it's a complete waste of time.
your better off adding an aftermarket changer. actually you're better off just replacing everything with aftermarket equipment.

buy a new HU and put an aftermarket changer...
FYI swapping radios requires removing the entire center console anyway (not just a drop in swap) ... so for the same amount of work, buy a new HU... there are double DIN radios that have built in CD changer if you're not wanting to run wiring...

The problem with them was they're infrared and work best when the steering wheel is straight (no changing volume or anything in the middle of a turn). Something like this must still exist and hopefully has been greatly improved since I did it.
I actually ended up using the HU remote most of the time.
