Default Update on my computer system, tv tuner...

Programs I'm using with Farenheit screen non VGA screen.

MP3: winamp with mmd3 skin amber display screen.
-nice program...main display size 150% scale...playlist display fit the screen...large font size. Looks good...sounds good. Forget radio.

GPS: M.S. mappoint.
- It will take a little getting used to such a small non-VGA screen.
-Map screen with font size at (large or extra large) is very viewable.
-Directions window's fonts are very viewable with font size of at least 16.
-Calculate route screen has small fonts that I do not think can be changed. Basically you have to know which blank is what. If you squink, you may be able to make out the text. Basically, there's one blank their where you punch in (or pick out) where you want to go and it calculates a route for you. If you are planning a long trip, I guess you can load your routes through wireless lan from your home computer or load it on a disk.
-Have not hooked up the GPS antenna yet...but I know this works because I've used it on the laptop.

DVD: Powerdvd.

Music video: Think winamp will work but I really don't like the layout of their video option.

Games: None yet...soon!

Only program I've tested out in field conditions is Winamp so far. Played mp3s on winamp going to work this morning....Don't know how I ever went without a pc. The MMP3 display is better than any stereo display I've seen to date (IMO of course and of course I'm kinda bias ).

TV TUNER: Stavision tuner with external film antenna.

I've used it for a while now (about a month). Nothing really on regular TV. I get MTV2 here but with the little inference you pick up in a lot of areas it's pretty much useless. I did it mainly so I can pick up the games every now and then when I'm on the road. I'm not turning on the sound to the FM modulator unless I'm sitting still...interference. The channels are cable quality in a lot of areas (with no interference) but I guess you have to be close to the towers.

-Finding a place to mount the antenna was a little difficult...I've moved it 3 times already based on aesthetics and reception. Finally ended up mounting it under the strut bar and out of view.

I have a m9000 board with 2699R case. It comes with a via 933 processor (probably equivalent to a 750 Athlon). There might be better systems out there, but I got this one mainly because it's low power (55 watts) and cheap. The power supply on the case IMO is pretty strained by all the gadgets on the motherboard. Had a few problems initially getting it to cold boot. Had to go with a 2.5" notebook harddrive because of it.

Would I recommend it? Don't know. I have to use for a little while longer. After putting in the less power consuming harddrive, it seems to have solved the boot problem.

The motherboard has a built in 32 MB shared memory video card with video out...you can choose from composite or S-video. Probably canNOT play 3-D games efficently without a 3-D card added IMO.

Starvision
Not overly impressed with the unit. With the external antenna plugged in the picture is very clear most of the time, unless you are moving. The picture breaks up when you are moving faster than ~30 MPH in most locations. Except for a 1-2 mile stretch close to downtown where I can go as fast as I want without any problems...I think the local MTV2 tower may be close by there.

Diversity antennas are suppose to be better...the Starvision only has one port for an antenna. There are a few units that have 4 antenna ports and I believe you can plug two antenna to them. Don't know how much better the reception is because they ARE antennas. Plus, I wouldn't know where to mount them all...I think they are suppose to be located at different parts of the car to be effective.
