Default More audio problems...

Ok, everything has been working fine since I put it in about 3 months ago. Today, I get in my car to go somewhere, get about a mile up the road and bam...problem! My audio is cutting in and out!! The sub-woofer track keeps playing but the audio to my 4 speakers is cutting in and out constantly...it even gets like a static as it's cutting in and out. It does this for a bit, plays normal for a few minutes, then starts messing up again. It does this on all sources(Ipod, Sirius, FM, CD). It's driving me crazy and I can't figure it out! All the cables are in good condition, all good connections, no crimps or anything. I reset my head unit and that didn't do anything, tried un-plugging everything, cleaning the connectors and plugging them back in...nothing helps! This is driving me cazy guys, please tell me it's something simple that I'm missing and that my HU isn't fried!

Amps are getting power fine, it's such a weird problem I'm having...I just can't fathom what could be causing it! Which makes it sooo frustrating!!!

Like, the music just cuts out. Every few seconds it will cut out, then back in, then out...it does this for a few minutes. Then it works fine for a few minutes, then starts freaking out again. The subwoofers keep going throughout this whole think though, non-stop. Which leads me to believe it's somewhere in the amplifier for my 4 speaks, not in the head unit.

It couldn't be the speakers because I mean, all 4 aren't gonna go bad at the same time...and they do work perfectly for a few minutes after start up and every so often.

Aha, moved a few wires and was able to see a status light coming on. Either impedence is too low or there is a direct short in the speaker outputs. I know it isn't overheating as the amp is still cool to the touch. It can't be low impedence as it's been working fine for months, must be a short in a speaker wire somewhere...yay...now I get to take everything apart and try to find it!

Arghh...ripped apart the car, none of the speaker wires are crimped, exposed, cut, or anything like that anywhere. I'm starting to think the amp has gone bad. I plugged it back in and did a little test, the amp still started to go into "protect" mode even when no speakers were plugged in, and the manual clearly states that the light comes on when there is a short on a speaker output...but there are no speakers plugged in. It's gotta be something inside the amp. Hopefully I'm still in the warranty period. :-/
