Default Need HELP, installing head unit.

quick questions:

1. there's an amp turn on wire from the Nissan wire harness i bought, do i need to hook this up (i have non-bose)

2. also an amp ground form the Nissan harness, do i connect this?

3. i was told i need an antenna adapter, any way around this with trickery

4. there's no ground wire from the harness, so i suppose i have to connect the head unit's ground to the chassis. . . so any spots you recommend connecting to?

any and all help is appreciated!!!

Yes, if you're using external amplifiers. If you're just using the head-end's built-in amplifier don't worry about it - but do tape it up to prevent contact with anything.

Nope. Not even with an external amplifier.

3. i was told i need an antenna adapter, any way around this with trickery
WTF? I haven't seen a headend that wouldn't take the "Motorola" RF plug.

I connected to the dash meter ground which is right behind the triple gauge. You'll find a bunch of factory black wires heading to a 10 mm screw.

any and all help is appreciated!!!

Make sure that the factory installed antenna booster still gets power. This might be a good use for that antenna turn-on wire that you're not going to need. The antenna booster amplifier sits just under the antenna and needs +12V ACC power.

my headunit doesn't have a antenna turn on lead, can i just connect it to the main power? the only other remotely plausible wire is the remote turn on, but that doesn't carry enough current, does it?

also, the wiring harness has the wire marked as "power antenna", is that the antenna booster wire?

The power antenna wire usually only has power when the radio first turns on. its for a power antenna to raise up, and I dont think that it is a 12V source.

I would just tie into the ACC power because I dont think that it will hurt the signa booster to be on all the time.
